A presence is something difficult to describe, but it has a very specific effect on our perception: something that is there but isn’t clear, doesn’t quite reveal itself, always on the verge of leaving or transforming into something else.

Animal Spirit brings back a part of my drawing practice from my early days (almost 30 years ago), with a series of works that I like to imagine as large animal hides, but which are also energetic flow, magnetic field, gesture, outline, and body

An image (and a name) that invokes the presence of instinct in our perception of the world, an invitation to think about and understand the invisible forces that surround us and influence our decisions far more than we realize.

Animal Spirit is part of the Light Field, an exhibition conceived for @institutodevision NY

Every exhibition always leads to a huge number of conversations, processes, ideas, and dialogues, which give things an even broader meaning than originally planned. Between August and September, I was lucky enough to talk and experiment a lot with @danejensen.art , @omayraalvarado , @beatrizlopeziv , @angela.jimenezduran , @paulina.avilae , and many others. Dane captured a small part of those conversations in this lovely video about the Light Field exhibition at @institutodevision #marlondeazambuja #danejansen #institutodevision

Thank you, friends—it’s a privilege to make art with you

𝗜𝗻𝘀𝘁𝗶𝘁𝘂𝘁𝗼 𝗱𝗲 𝗩𝗶𝘀𝗶𝗼́𝗻 presents A sᴜᴍᴍᴇʀ ɪɴ Nᴇᴡ Yᴏʀᴋ by Colombian artist Ana Mercedes Hoyos at the fifth edition of 𝗜𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗽𝗲𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝟮𝟬𝗧𝗛 𝗖𝗘𝗡𝗧𝗨𝗥𝗬 at The Breuer in New York.

The presentation revisits Hoyos’s time in New York and the ways the city informed her imagination and visual language.

We’re pleased to see the presentation featured in 𝗢𝗕𝗦𝗘𝗥𝗩𝗘𝗥’s coverage of this year’s fair, which highlights the rediscovery of overlooked and underrepresented voices within 20th-century art.
