Who knows the Beatsabar rehearsal room best? 👀🎸

We put two staff members head-to-head in a quick-fire challenge to see who could name the most reasons bands should rehearse here.

Loser had to do 20 push-ups 😂

Fully equipped room, great acoustics, air conditioning, free parking… but who actually knows it best?

Watch to the end to see who lost 👀

I’ve been wanting to give back to young people for a long time now and I finally have that opportunity with a program that I created alongside one of my closest friends and business partners @simoneeviola / @symssynergytherapy who will be delivering the session.
Over the last two years we’ve been building the GBL project CIC into a real functioning community company!
And now we have the opportunity to share our first project that is aimed at young people. When I thought of this idea, I thought it would only be right for me to do it with the biggest youth platform in the city, which is @thewayyouthzone so if you’re looking for something free for your children to do between the ages of 9 and 17 make sure you access this QR code and sign them up as soon as you can spots are going fast I know that’s right!! #freethishalfterm #thingstodowolverhampton #halftermactivities #westmidlands

Usually I’m helping young people find their voice—today they wanted to hear my story! 🎤

The young people on the Black Country Roots and Realities project from @genesissunuk interviewed me to help preserve my journey, from Texas to the UK, finding home in #Wolverhampton and building Beatsabar.

It made me pause and appreciate how much has happened along the way.

Thank you for taking an interest, asking thoughtful questions and giving me the chance to share.

Here’s a little behind-the-scenes clip from today. 🎥

PART TWO: We have to lose the ego if we really want Wolverhampton’s creative scene to grow. 💚
One of the biggest things I talk about in this part of the video is that The GBL Project CIC isn’t just here for the person standing on the stage.

We’re here for the people behind it too.

The producers.
The engineers.
The videographers.
The photographers.
The promoters.
The managers.
The designers.
The writers.
The actors.
The comedians.
The DJs.

The people building the platforms, creating the opportunities and making everything happen behind the scenes.

Because a sustainable creative industry cannot be built around one artist, one promoter, one organisation or one person getting the credit.

It takes an ecosystem.

And one of the biggest things I’ve encountered over the years is ego.

Everybody wants to say they did it first.
Everybody wants to be the person who came up with the idea.
Everybody wants to be the person steering the ship.

But sometimes the vision is already clear.
And when somebody has a vision that can benefit the whole community, we shouldn’t be fighting over who gets to say they thought of it first.

Sometimes we need to get behind it, bring our skills to the table and help make the vision bigger.

That is what I want GBL to represent.

Projects that create opportunities for every part of the creative sector and help people understand how their talent can become a genuine, sustainable career.

That also means helping creatives think differently about how their work can earn for them.

Whether you’re making music, creating film, performing comedy, acting, writing, producing or working behind the scenes, there are ways of building intellectual property, creating content, registering work, releasing it and developing income streams around your talent.

We need more of those conversations in Wolverhampton.

More information.
More collaboration.
More infrastructure.
More people pulling in the same direction.

Because the goal shouldn’t be:

“I made it.”

The goal should be:

“We built something that means the next person doesn’t have to leave Wolverhampton to make a living from their creativity.”

That’s the bigger vision b
