On May 13th, 2023, I graduated Cum Laude from Virginia Commonwealth University with my Master’s of Science in Biology.

This journey was gruesome but extremely rewarding. I learned so much & sharpened many skills. On top of being a full time student, I was a graduate research assistant in the Damm lab that studies stem cells & neural crest cells development using zebrafish. So, one of things I was responsible for was injecting & raising the embryos that I would use in experiments. I literally watched these fish go from one cell to an entire embryo in 24 hours. God is so amazing!

I defended my thesis “Epithelial Membrane Protein 3 (Emp3b) is a Novel Regulator of Sympathetic Nervous System Development in Zebrafish” on May 1, 2023. When I tell yall after my committee passed me a huge weight was lifted off my shoulders & I could finally breathe. Whew.

Also, I had the opportunity to teach introductory and advanced molecular labs. Surprisingly, I absolutely loved teaching more than I ever would’ve thought. It was amazing watching my students grow. Seeing how I impacted my their view on biology really warmed my heart.

I really want to thank everyone who encouraged & spoke life over me. I am forever grateful for the unconditional love and support I received throughout this entire process. Next, Dr. White loading….

The Grand Phinale💕💚

On May 13th 2022, I graduated from Virginia Commonwealth University with a BA in Political Science w/ a concentration of Civil Rights and a minor in Business. My journey through college has been a rollercoaster from dealing with the pressures of school and the weight of the world simultaneously but “nevertheless, she persisted.” I thank God everyday that he allowed me to not only get a good education but to experience life lessons that have strengthened me.

In my last semester at VCU, I was blessed to become a woman of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated which granted me 46 beautiful sisters! I am honored to be your 15. I see a light in all of you ladies and I am so excited to see what mountains you will move next. May we prosper and grow together as a line and continue to be a prime example of our sweet sorority. After all, we are Self Titled: Destiny Fulfilled. Thank you for your support and I look forward to making more memories with you!
