Some young athletes impress you with their physical abilities. Others impress you with their intelligence, character, and the way they carry themselves. Every once in a while, you come across one who checks all those boxes.

This young man Beau Bennett of Boaz High School is doing exactly that.

With an incredible 4.43 GPA, he has always been an exceptional student. From an early age, his intelligence, analytical mind, and ability to process information have set him apart. A former gifted student, he earned the Summa Cum Laude Freshman Academic Award while also making his mark in two varsity sports.

As a freshman, he started for the varsity baseball team that captured an area championship and earned All-Region Honorable Mention honors in football.

On the football field, he has already rewritten the Boaz record books, setting single-game school records with 379 passing yards and six passing touchdowns.

His performances have earned him recognition from across the state, including AHSAA Radio Network Male Athlete of the Week, Region Athlete of the Week, Offensive Standout Spotlight, BamaPreps Spinner of the Week, and numerous other weekly honors. He also attended the prestigious Manning Passing Academy this past summer.

But there is much more to this young man than academics and athletics.

He's an active member of Mount Vernon Baptist Church, an avid outdoorsman who enjoys deer, duck, and turkey hunting, and someone who loves golf, Alabama football, his five dogs, and spending time with friends.

Perhaps one of his greatest qualities is his even-keeled personality. Whether things are going his way or adversity comes calling, he has the kind of steady demeanor that is so valuable in a young quarterback.

At Average Joe's Sports Talk, we love recognizing outstanding athletes, but we especially appreciate young people who understand that success extends far beyond the playing field.

CM Gridiron | Offensive Player of the Week | Week 4 | Beau Bennett | Boaz Pirates

Congratulations to Boaz’s Beau Bennett on being named the Week 4 CM Gridiron Offensive Player of the Week!

Beau put together an incredible night through the air in Boaz’s 52-6 Class 5A Region 8 victory over Lee-Huntsville. The Pirates quarterback finished with 379 passing yards and 5 touchdown passes.

Beau’s 379 passing yards set a new Boaz single-game record, while his 5 touchdown passes matched the school’s single-game record for touchdown passes.

That’s an outstanding performance from Beau and a big night for the Boaz offense as the Pirates picked up another important region victory!

CM Gridiron stopped by Boaz High School to deliver Beau his Offensive Player of the Week T-shirt, CM Gridiron cap, and game towel.

Well deserved, Beau! Good luck to you and the Boaz Pirates on the rest of the season!
