Model @irinashayk has cemented her status as a recognizable name within the sartorial zeitgeist. Born Irina Shaykhlislamova, Shayk effortlessly transitioned from a small-town beauty to a global fashion phenomenon. After her first major cover for #SportsIllustrated in 2011, Shayk’s career took an extraordinary change after #RiccardoTisci and #DonatellaVersace helped her transition to the high fashion world. Juggling motherhood and businesses, Shayk has dominated both facets, working with legendary photographers like #StevenMeisel, #MertAndMarcus, and the late #PeterLindbergh. Directed by @beau.sam Models.com spoke to the New Super @mercerhotel about her historic start, the importance of finding her creative tribe, and what it takes to make an iconic picture. Behind @padmalakshmi’s Halo Halo ice cream (which is Tagalog for “mixed”), made in collaboration with the wonderful @badhabit.icecreams🍦. “It’s a dessert that takes many forms, I love it because it’s a build-your-own adventure experience and it has a bunch of things. Traditionally it has flan, because of the Spanish colonialism in the Philippines, and it also has a lot of tropical fruits because it’s a Philippino dish. Halo Halo is a meditation on temperature and texture, as much as it’s about sweetened flavour.” Come try it and let us know what you think!
