I’ve been debating whether or not to even make a post but here it is. This season was full of ups and downs and ultimately in the end I fell EXTREMELY short of my goal, to make it high on that podium. I could sit here and write a list of excuses but in the end it’s me vs the guy across from me. Everything is in my hands and ultimately I let the moment get to me. That is one of the reasons this sport is so hard. You can put in all the work, have the best coaches and partners, and do the extra practices but at the end of the day your the one putting your foot on that line. There hasn’t been a single day I haven’t thought about that match and I still can’t believe it but that’s life. The following days after the match where the toughest, I lost my mind and was in the worst mental state of my wrestling career. I just couldn’t except the outcome. It killed me and it made me doubt my abilities but with time and support from my coaches, teammates, and family members I know now that one match doesn’t define me as a wrestler or person. As hard as it is and as bad as I wanted it I’ve come to except it and I’ve expected that I’ll never get that match back. The best I can do is use it. I made a promise to myself I would never feel that way again and I intend on keeping it and this weekend definitely helped fuel that fire. I will get what’s mine next year so mark the calendar now. Last thing is that through all the ups and downs my teammates, my coaches, and ESPECIALLY MY PARENTS were with me the whole way and I truly couldn’t have done it without you guys. I love you all and I love my Irish family, wouldn’t wanna go through this journey with any other team in the world. I also want to thank all my seniors, you guys will forever be my brothers and I know you will do great things wherever life takes you, love you boys. Swamp4L ☘️. I’ll be back.
