The Fro was out this weekend and we both loved it. Shout out to @beautimarc for A1 knowledge on the art of hair care for my baby girl. She can go from her beautiful fro to cornrows/twist in a day with all the right water based products that don’t cause drying, buildup, and keeps her hair shiny and soft. Man this journey has been so fun and life changing her tips to manage this very tender headed child changed our hair routines trajectory. We went from tears just knowing wash day was coming up to requesting a wash day every week like what? Nah sis two weeks is all I can manage. Back to school style by yours truly. I’ve been on my journey for a looong time, I’m an OG, the more I realized it’s also about trust, patience, technique, energy, consistency, who you are in that very moment and who you allow access to you.

As stylist that nurtures their own hair usually understands how to nurture yours too.
Not perfection. Not length.
But care. Intention. Discipline. Knowledge.

My hair journey taught me that healthy hair isn’t rushed.
It’s listened to.
Protected.
Adjusted when needed.
And sometimes… healed.

There were moments I questioned the process.
Moments I wanted instant results.
Moments I had to trust my stylist @chrisscheneye and @beautimarc while also learning to trust myself again.

But watching someone care for their own crown gave me the confidence to let them help me care for mine. 🌱

Trust the hands that honor hair… not just style it.

Leaving everything doesn’t allow me to grow in 2025,
Actually I’m leaving it right now, I’m not waiting until the end of the month I’m doing that shyt RN.

This was a very vulnerable moment for me, because I love my hair, my locs, we’ve been in this for over 20 years.
But I had to realize that just because you love something and sometimes feels like you can’t live without it, you have to let it go.
For growth
To gain Wisdom.
To see how beautiful things really can be…
Without the noise.

So to the person who what’s to develop a better relationship with themselves, and you don’t know where to start.
Do something for yourself today that will push you towards a better you tomorrow.
Love YOUSELF a little more today.

Let GO!!

The love and attention that must go into keeping a healthy crown is proof that you MUST love yourself. Angel Gregorio, a Howard University alum, made history by launching Black and Forth the first-ever strip mall dedicated to Black-owned businesses in Washington, D.C.

Located at 2201 Channing St. NE, the mall features refurbished shipping containers transformed into commercial spaces and aims to empower Black women entrepreneurs.

Black and Forth includes a variety of brands such as The Spice Suite, Brown Beauty Co-op, The Museum, and more - all focused on celebrating and supporting Black excellence.

When I bought the block, I was so excited to have enough space to bring some Black women along with me.

I retrofitted shipping containers to be able to serve as a skincare studio, hair salons and a nail salon.

We’ve been blessed by some amazing women to grace these spaces.
