A dream come true💫 Just 2 weeks ago, my piece was premiered at the Queen Elizabeth Hall! It was an incredible honour to be part of the @londonphilharmonicorchestra Debut Sounds Concert.

The past year has been a journey in so many ways. I've been lucky to share it with some kickass composers @zachreadingg @njodonnell_composer @dbsoley @jorgefpramos
While bittersweet to see this chapter end, I'm genuinely excited for what the future holds for us.

A massive thank you to the LPO team, the phenomenal conductor @ju__ya and Tania León for your endless inspiration & mentorship. And of course, to the talented poets who brought such a unique & powerful dimension to the evening. It was an experience I'll never forget💜

Debut Sounds: Memory Palace 🎶 A night to remember.

This week, our five LPO Young Composers for 2024/25 premiered their new memory-inspired works at the @southbankcentre in our annual Young Composers showcase Debut Sounds. This year, music and spoken word collided as the composers collaborated with five talented poets from the Southbank Centre’s New Poets Collective, all under the mentorship of LPO Composer-in-Residence, Tania León 🤩

The celebration of emerging talent didn’t stop there! LPO players were joined on stage by musicians of our Foyle Future Firsts Development Programme, and conducted by LPO Fellow Conductor @ju__ya.

Massive congratulations to everyone involved! 🎉

Got my fancy clothes on to perform ‘Flood’ alongside newly commissioned pieces by fellow @southbankcentre New Poets Collective alumni and @londonphilharmonicorchestra Young Composers. The ensemble was conducted by the spectacular @ju__ya. Well done to all for an amazing night of music and poems! Special congrats to @dbsoley for his beautiful piece ‘Rumination’, which my poem is in conversation with. (You can read the poem in the last pic.)

Welcome to the world, Mutabani 🙏🏾✨

I knew I wanted to do something big for this event that paid homage to my familial roots, my cultural roots, my performance roots and my roots in the poetry community. This 'ceremony' was everything I could have imagined and more, full of musicality, storytelling, play, rawness and odes to our motherlands. My heart is still overwhelmed by it all.

Can't thank @nomakhwezi.becker enough for believing in what I had envisioned, and being the perfect holder of space to facilitate that. Thank you @beautyandprocess @maxinetheprincess and @mrbusoir for understanding the assignment and bringing different dimensions of why I love what poetry and performance can do here. Thank you community for your vibes, your laughs, your emotions, your safety and your love. None of this happens without you, and I hope this night held you just as much as you held us. Hope the clan is proud. 💛
