FRIDAY 🗞️ DUMP
• President Donald Trump suspended the green card lottery program on Thursday that allowed the suspect in the Brown University and MIT shootings to come to the United States.

Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem said in a post on the social platform X that, at Trump’s direction, she is ordering the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services to pause the program.

• White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt said in a post on X that the president’s announcement scheduled for 1 p.m. will be “more incredible deals that will lower prices of drugs and pharmaceuticals.”

Trump has already announced deals with several drug makers, including AtraZeneca and Pfizer, to lower the cost of prescription drugs for Medicaid.

• Trump has directed his administration to work as quickly as possible to reclassify marijuana as a less dangerous drug. However, the executive order does not legalize marijuana under federal law, and it’s not the final word. The proposed change still requires federal regulatory approval.

But the change could make the marijuana industry more profitable, facilitate new research on medicinal uses and nudge federal policy closer to a more tolerant approach already in place in many states.

• Health care is a growing concern for Americans, according to a new AP-NORC poll that asked people to share their top priorities for the government to address in 2026.

The uptick on health care was much sharper than on other commonly mentioned issues. It comes after Trump’s administration reduced spending on Medicaid, a safety net program for poor people, and decided to end coronavirus pandemic-era subsidies for the Affordable Care Act, essentially guaranteeing that millions of people will see a steep rise in costs early next year.

• But Americans are also less confident that the government will be able to make progress on the important problems facing the country in 2026. About 66% of U.S. adults say they are “slightly” or “not at all confident,” down from 58% last year.

Kyra’s Ballad 🌱🪽(pt. 1)⁣

I’m so lucky to have had such a beautiful and wise best friend. I wrote this as a poem and turned it into a collaborative song with her, using some of the voice messages we would send to one another. I was able to sing this to her family and friends at her memorial, and felt her spirit with me. I’m hoping to do a studio recording of this, but wanted to share this raw, unedited version with you all because i know I’m not the only one grieving. Know that you are not alone, and your grief is a product of your love. I miss her every single day. And I love you, Kyra 🕊️⁣

This smile was after the tears… but we we had to celebrate Kyra

We call her a real love and light shawty, a young visionary whose stories will resonate beyond her years. Last week we had the opportunity to celebrate the life of Kyra Matalasi Bernards and it was both painful and beautiful. Kyra knew that anything involving her had to be a celebration but it’s hard to celebrate how magnanimous someone is while missing them… We did our best, but I wanted to affirm one of the many lessons learned from Kyra.

Life is worth creating for and giving of yourself no matter what obstacles are in your way is what we do. Kyra is a leader in truth, vulnerability, creativity, and social uplift through all that she did she had an incredible attention to detail and a heart for service. It seemed like her wins were and always will be wins for her team and community.

God bless our newest angel.

Yesterday was a difficult day for me!! I used to teach preschool and Kyra went to a preschool I worked at. She had epilepsy and the day after her 26th birthday she had an epileptic seizure and unfortunately she passed away. She was a sweet, fun little girl full of joy who grew up into such a beautiful young lady who loved everyone unconditionally, and she was kind, caring, loving, sweet, and a plant mom etc!! Her mom raised her right!! Her family and friends are the best!! I’m so grateful and lucky I got to be a part of her life!! I now have another guardian angel watching down on me. She was so young and had her whole life ahead of her!! The celebration of life for Kyra was absolutely beautiful and I shed alot of tears!! I’m still in shock and so heartbroken!! My heart hurts for her mom so much!! Kyra I love you so much and I promise to always be kind to everyone and love everyone just like you have!! I will also try to do my best with my plants even though I’m not great with them!! Life isn’t fair!! 💔😭😢🙏🏻🩷💗♥️🫶🏻🕊️ @kyramatalasi @beckflatley
