Welp. 4 years and lots of blood sweat and tears later, I now have my MFA in narrative film and television directing from UCLA! Thank you to all the instructors and classmates who helped this time be as good as it has even through the unending amount of “unprecedented times” we’ve gone through as a cohort.

Special thanks to my partner @darinmckenna for being through all of this with me! Love you so much 😘😘

Now please hire me cause I’m in debt hahaha

Art and Architecture No: 72
Mascarons of Pont Neuf
Year: 16th century
Location: Paris, France
Artist: Germain Pillon
⠀
Despite its name which means the “new bridge,” Pont Neuf is the oldest bridge in Paris and one of the most iconic sights of the city. In architecture, a mascaron is an ornament in the form of a grotesque face, typically of a chimeric creature or mythical humanoid. Often associated with the forest, many mascarons depict such mythological figures as satyrs and the Green Man. They were originally installed above doorways to scare away evil spirits, but gradually lost this function as time went by and became a popular decorative element in the Beaux Arts and Art Nouveau periods.
⠀
The original mascarons of Pont Neuf are attributed to French Renaissance sculptor Germain Pilon, dating back to the late 16th century. Counting 381 in total, each of them is different and shows a monstrous, sometimes humorous, expression of fear, shock, and intimidation. These originals were replaced by contemporary copies when the bridge was completely rebuilt between 1851 and 1854, later finding their homes in the Carnavalet Museum and the Château d’Écouen.

The Bond was recognized as one of the best films coming out of UCLA at the 2022 Director’s Spotlight. A selection of narrative, animated, and documentary films were chosen by peers, alumni, and a Blue Ribbon Panel of industry professionals. When I entered UCLA my cohort consisted of 27 people— 21 of us were women— primarily POC. I am forever grateful to legendary professors like #NancyRichardson #BeckyJSmith and #MarkRosman for supporting women, queer, gender expansive people, and POC and giving us the tools to tell our stories.

As always thank you cast, crew, and donors. Also BIG thank you Cheri and my 410 cohort who held it down and helped me grow during our life changing production boot camp✌🏿

INCREDIBLY GRATEFUL FOR MY FAMILY & FRIENDS. I am feeling so much better today. Some trails challenge us and make us question who we are and how we can go on. I find my grounding through my connection to nature and to you all. Thank you.❤️❤️❤️

One year ago, I didn’t have an account here yet ... Here’s a selection of photos on my graduation day last year like this day with an MFA in Film Directing from UCLA. Now, after the corona outbreak had changed our lives, and looking back at these wonderful photos and moments, many things learned from the social distancing, but one for sure is: Never take for granted moments I spent with people I love. ❤️❤️❤️
