Don’t underestimate how important your bedroom is. It’s the place you reset every evening, it’s the place your nervous system calms, it’s the place you wake in the morning before the day claims you. It should be an environment that feels instantly calming, cocooning and a space you enjoy being in.

Before you rush in and buy the bedding you love, think about the lighting, do you have enough lamps or options for layered lights so you don’t always need the overhead light on?

Think about the natural light in here, do you need blackout curtains, or blinds? How are these controlled? Where do they open?

Think about the storage, do you have space for a dressing area, or built in wardrobes. What combination of drawers of shelves do you need?

And then the bed…. The pillows, the mattress, the bedding - the material choices are so important here. They will set the tone for the room, creating an environment that aids sleep and rest.

This is the beautiful master bedroom at Project Packhorse. Soft, layered, calming.

We did a budget redecoration of our bedroom months ago but I never got round to sharing it. The headboard had faded and I’d fallen out of love with the dark grey feature wall. Multi skilled James reupholstered our bed and we repainted in our old favourite Hardwick White. We added a new throw from bedfolk and I replaced the lampshades. I’d love to replace our ikea bedsides but one thing at a time…

Just a handful of close up shots from Project Links finished shoot! I’m so proud of how this bedroom came together, my client wanted her room to feel calm and elegant and I think we have definitely achieved that. More photos to come 🤍

The answer to good design isn’t always more space, sometimes it is about carefully rethinking the rooms you already have, how you use the spaces and how it could work harder for you.

In our clients Victorian home, this space was previously a nursery, while the existing bathroom was a much smaller room in the middle of the house. By reconsidering the layout and the flow of the spaces, we were able to create this calm, generous bathroom - a sanctuary that feels as though it has always belonged here.

Throughout the project, it was important to us to retain the character and history of the house. Original period details, including the fireplace, were carefully kept and woven into the new scheme, keeping the history of this beautiful home alive.

Well getting up at 5.30am this morning to do the swim run in the pitch black and rain was a struggle. So I’m manifesting hard for more golden autumn mornings like this again soon. If you ever needed a reason to paint your whole bedroom mustard yellow, this is it 💛 ✨ 🥰
