When Patrick Rasche called me and said they were going to ride a massive rock in the woods, I almost didn’t believe him.

Mainly because… we don’t really have massive rocks in our woods.

When I got there, though, this monster was sitting right between the trees. For a moment, I was seriously confused.

Turns out: the whole thing was fake.

Patrick and the crew @befablogsen had built their own rock out of chicken wire, papier-mâché and a pretty wild North Shore construction underneath — just to bring a little bit of British Columbia to the southern edge of the Ruhr area.

And yes: they actually rode it.

I photographed the whole madness — including the part afterwards, when they carefully dismantled everything and took it out of the forest again before the local forester could have a heart attack.

Creativity, fake reality and questionable ideas in the woods.

Long before social media, fake news and AI made it mainstream.
