When the Greek-speaking world looked toward Africa, they weren’t looking past the Sahara!

Their ultimate standard of African majesty, wealth, and power was the Kingdom of Kush (modern-day Sudan).

The deep history of Sudan matters and dominates historical discussions together with Egypt because the Nile preserved an enormous wealth of monuments, inscriptions, and archaeological treasures that allow us to reconstruct its past in staggering detail.

This isn't just history. This is a preservation and rescue mission.

📍 Join me in Rotterdam this June 20th to uncover the classical superpower that mainstream history tried to overwrite. Whether you are Sudanese, Surinamese, Somali, Curaçaoan, or from any part of the global diaspora, this history belongs to you as well.

Cause once upon a time, you were also to be called Aethiopian or Kushite.

If you look closely at Black Moroccan history, you find distinct communities that are all related but completely unique:

✨ The Gnawa: Belonging to the historic Trans-Saharan diaspora, their ancestral spiritual music still roots cities like Marrakesh and Essaouira today.

✨ The Sahrawi: Deep desert nomads whose ancestors actually built the Almoravid empire.

✨ The Haratin: An ancient, indigenous population native to the thousand-kilometer Draa river Valley, cultivating the oases since time immemorial.

Which of these three communities did you know the least about? Let me know in the comments below! 👇🏾

What is a Cape Verdean? 🌍

Let's clear the Portuguese propaganda. While Cape Verdeans obviously speak Portuguese officially, what does their African ancestry actually tell us about their lineage and identity? 🇨🇻

Most people assume Cape Verdean identity is closely tied to Europe because of the official language.

Looking past the official surface reveals Kabuverdianu, the local mother tongue. This language is a rich tapestry that maps directly back to the West African legacies of the Senegambia and Sierra Leone regions.

To understand the modern African Diaspora, you must understand how these separate threads wove together. If you take away the West African foundation, the entire identity crumbles like a house of cards. 🏛️📊#Caboverde #Capeverdean #AfricanHistory
