Hey ! I’m Mya James… I’m the founder of SisterSEED Foundation 🌿🌼
Sister Seed was born from something very simple: the desire to help people build better lives for themselves.

I’m a mother to one awesome son, a global entrepreneur, a medical professional, and someone deeply passionate about helping people live authentically. In most cases authentic living often requires access. Access to education. Access to opportunity. Access to financial freedom. Access to support when life feels heavy.

In the beginning, I was simply trying to find ways to support small projects of people who needed a little help moving forward. A school fee here. A business idea there. Support for women, teen mothers, families on holidays, students, and communities trying to rebuild, restart, or simply breathe a little easier. I took my own money and funded, sourced and SOWED.

But something beautiful happened.

The more projects I helped with, the more people I reached. The more people I reached, the more the community grew. No pun intended. 🌱

Sister Seed became more than an idea. It became a reminder that even the smallest seed of support can change someone’s life forever. Something you spend on a meal is someone school fees for a year, school lunch for 30 students or prenatal care for a mother.

A seed has everything it needs to be great inside of it. The first step to great is to #sowtheseed

Skinworks 2025 was everything we envisioned and more.
At @judahsmakeover_ our mission was to take you behind the curtain of what really goes into creating magic on set; from in-depth skin prep, makeup and hairstyling to capturing the final shot through the lens.

We didn’t just teach, we created space to unlearn and relearn — from shade matching and natural contouring with our hands to professional set techniques. Spicingit up with the scavenger hunt, giveaways and other fun activities, the energy was buzzing, making it an experience no one will forget.

Special thanks to our muse @briggitteappiah for bringing the vision to life, @giftyb_ for reminding us of our power as creatives, and @beingmyajames for guiding us through with insight and grace. Much love to @afro_ele_ for her artistry in hairstyling and @g.sarkodee for mastering the light and photography that tied it all together.

Most importantly thank you to every expert, panelist and creative who showed up and made this workshop a reality.

Skinworks is more than a workshop. It is a movement. And the next one will be even bigger.

🥂👌🏾❤️‍🔥✨I’m super grateful and thankful to @judahsmakeover_ and the entire Behind the scenes media/beauty industry experts for inviting me to be the muse for this year’s SKINWORKS 2025 Workshop .Where they took us through demonstrations and the practical part of what goes on Behind the Scenes of any Media Production Set you see, from skin prepping, makeup application styles, hair preps, conveying your message or intentions through hairstyles and wrapping it up with the action time! Which is the photo or video shoot session .
2. I had the opportunity to learn,unlearn and relearn lots of the industry’s techniques/goodies(like naturally contouring our face with our hands🤌🏾❤️‍🔥✨and many other insights )…talking of goodies,there were lots of giveaways that was won by our lovely and lucky guests through the scavenger hunt games,it was soo fun and lovely .
3. it was a holistic experience of goodness(very chill and calm as well),that my words can’t unpack/convey ,you would have to come and experience it for yourself whenever the next one comes out,it’s a goodie you wouldn’t want to miss out on.

4. We also had a surprise guest speaker @giftyb_ who graced the occasion for us ,leading and throwing light on the need to love,appreciate and believe in ourselves despite the harsh realities or conditions in the beauty/media industry,especially for models and artists…a topic that is much needed and if possible be reminded of it often…thank you dear for reminding us to always stay on guard and remember our power. Seeing you again after soo many years still looking beautiful and vibrant was definitely a 360 moment for me as I was reminded of the hardworking, talented, passionate women in the industry that are still thriving ,growing and winning and in the world as a whole.
5. We also touch on building strong bonds and supporting each other within our communities.
6. I also had the opportunity to meet the multifaceted and beautiful @beingmyajames who carried/anchored us through the whole program,we learnt a lot and had soo much fun with you as our moderator,thank you soo much for blessing us with your expertise.

Before the start of anything, I'm always like “Y'all want to pray?” A prayer, by definition, is a request or thanks to God or whatever your higher power is.
On August 9th, I sponsored a beauty and networking workshop in Ghana. It was truly a collaboration between all the wonderful people who helped make it happen. It was FREE to anyone who wanted to learn or meet people to work with.

Investment in the youth is like planting a tree. Your satisfaction is from the deed and someone else will gain from the seed. I personally have not taught in years and at the workshop, I remembered my favorite thing about true teaching. You put all your wisdom, experience, and technique together and you pour and pour. And at first you don't see anything but if you are really good at what you do.…. There is this movement when you look at everyone and it's like it's a LIGHT glowing in their eyes. You've passed on knowledge. And the light that burns in you that keeps you going you have now passed to someone else. 😅

It's truly magical.
Jesus was a great teacher.

Matthew 5:15 & 16- Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead, they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. 16 In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.
