At this point, I was winning... Not for long! 🙈

Check mated by my big sis @keirah80 @beingwineful

I've only recently learnt chess on @duolingo and I'm a wee bit obsessed. I beat Keira last time, beginners luck maybe? It's 1 all so far... Is the next match the decider...?

We're SLTN Awards 2026 finalists! 🍷🥂
What a way to mark our first birthday, which is officially tomorrow! 🎂

Less than a year after opening our doors, Le Petit Raisin has been shortlisted for The Wine Award, at the SLTN Awards, Scotland's biggest trade night of the year.

The award celebrates a venue with an exceptional wine list and a knowledgeable, engaged team, so to be recognised for both means the world to us.

Here's what SLTN @scottishlicensedtradenews had to say about us:
"Having opened just under a year ago, Le Petit Raisin has managed to successfully build a broad customer base through a great selection of wines accompanied by cheese and charcuterie. The owners have made an effort to ensure their wine list stands out from the local market, with a balance of classic regions and emerging styles – all enthusiastically promoted via the venue's social media. A separate basement space allows the venue to host a range of wine events and training sessions."

None of this would be possible without our brilliant team at Le Petit Raisin: Jason (Manager and sommelier ), Max, Joel, Fia, Asiah, Euan and Keira (Marketing).

We're so proud of what we've built together in just one year.

Good luck to our fellow finalists, and we can't wait to meet everyone at the ceremony in November.

Keep your eyes peeled for our official birthday celebrations, coming soon! 🥂

Thank you for your continued custom.
Santé,
Catherine and Sam

Just arrived in Porto at our favourite site, Istas Gardens. After a 310 mile drive from Burgos, a wonderful welcome from Pedro and Inês, and camp set up, it’s time to treat ourselves to a well deserved @maos_e_irmaos Douro Doc tinto🍷🍷…. After all it is Friday I think 🤔…. and it’s bloody hot …. chin chin ❤️

Thanks to Keira @beingwineful for a wonderful tour around France last night @lepetitraisin_winebar 🇫🇷🍷

We explored five very different wines, each with its own story, character and sense of place.

A brilliant idea and a fantastic addition to the huge range of #edinburghfringe events taking place across the city.

If you missed out this year, definitely look out for Keira at next year’s Fringe! 🇫🇷✨

Amazing to have a sold out show last night! ✨💫

Thank you to all our wonderful audiences and so great to catch up with more friends and family over the last few days...💗💖🩷

Thanks for travelling all the way down from Broughty Ferry @kennyrathband and lovely to be surprised by my onscreen hubby @bobbyrob1974 smiling away on the 2nd row that same evening!

Peter Henderson surprised me as well (although he looks even more surprised than I do) & I was delighted to attend @kathleen.ruddy 's laugh out loud The Cut of her Jib after hearing Kathleen chuckling away in our audience too.

Thank you so much to @yvonne.irwin.54 Duncan (is he on here?) @cjwaddell & @sarahquinnwaddell for joining us on Friday night! And Siri & Zoe too - sad you weren't there for Campbell's selfie.

My sister Keira @beingwineful came along for a 2nd time - thank you sister! - to make up some of our wonderful sell out audience last night with @edbroughton @mrswhatthebell @kel_falconer & Frankie. And what an absolute SCREAM to go see Hole! The Musical by @americansingsong afterwards...😳💖🤣 Trying to persuade @jnaplescampbell to take a trip to see it with me again before they sell out completely!

And another 2nd timer @csciueref 😘 joined us again with @matthewbrenher and Alex Walker. Thanks gents❣️

Feeling the love and so happy to be part of a homegrown production, written and based in Edinburgh. Come join our fabulous audiences @steakout2026 🥩❤️‍🔥🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

Many thanks to Scouting for Girls for making me feel twenty again, Diana @wineeventsscot for teaching about Sicilian Wine, apparently I love a lava taste note & my buddy for being my photographer 😉

I recently sat down with Mr @stuskea Head Sommelier at Michelin starred @lylaedinburgh Restaurant in Edinburgh. Stuart is ranked #7 in the UK Top 100 Sommeliers and was named in Harper’s Top 50 Sommeliers of 2025.

One topic that fascinated me was the impact glassware has on wine.

Stuart explained that most people don’t realise the glass they drink from can dramatically influence how a wine tastes. It’s not simply about presentation or aesthetics. The shape, size, and quality of the glass can significantly affect the way aromas are delivered to the nose and, ultimately, how flavours are perceived.

As Stuart puts it, glassware acts like a loudspeaker for a wine’s aromatics. A thin lipped, well designed glass allows more volatile compounds to be released and directed towards the senses, enhancing the overall tasting experience.

It’s a surprisingly significant detail and a reminder that sometimes the smallest changes can make the biggest difference.

Have you ever noticed the same wine tasting different when served in another glass?
