“I volunteer as tribute!” 🙋🏻‍♀️ Whenever Blanca @blanca.c.alcaraz is teaching hands-on techniques, you’ll never hear me complain about being the practice patient. 😄 She’s incredibly strong, intuitive, and deeply knowledgeable about the body, so getting to be on the table is definitely a perk of mentorship. Every week, Dr. Gretchen Zalis and I carve out time to learn from one another and from other amazing movement professionals in our community. This week, Blanca shared some of her favorite manual therapy techniques, and we practiced spinal rotations, breathing strategies, and movement patterns that help people move with more ease and confidence. We make time for sessions like these because taking care of ourselves, learning through touch, and staying curious makes us better clinicians. The more we practice, ask questions, and play with new ideas, the more we have to offer every patient who walks through our doors. Blanca is one of the owners of be. In Union Yoga in Somerville, an exceptional massage therapist, and a wonderful teacher. Check out be. In Union Yoga @beinunion. If you’re ready to move better, recover from an injury, or simply invest in your health, we’d love to work with you. 🌐 unionsquarept.com 📞 781-474-3515 📧 info@unionsquarept.com A huge thank you to Blanca for sharing your knowledge with us—and for making it very easy to volunteer as the practice patient. 😉

Today I had the pleasure of joining Mind & Milk @beinunion to talk about pelvic health for new parents. 🤍 A huge thank you to the incredible Betty Baratta—doula, licensed mental health counselor, and yoga teacher—for inviting me to be part of such a thoughtful and welcoming community. @elizabethbarattalmhc Together, we explored how the breath, nervous system, and pelvic floor are deeply connected. We practiced diaphragmatic and lateral rib cage breathing, restorative movement, and gentle yoga poses to encourage relaxation and recovery. We also discussed the connection between the jaw and the pelvic floor, and how something as simple as softening the jaw and creating space between the teeth can help support easier breathing and reduce tension throughout the body. It was wonderful to meet new parents and their little ones—from newborns to curious babies who were already rolling, sitting, and joining in on the fun. 💕 As a pelvic floor physical therapist, I love opportunities like this to connect with our community, share practical tools, and support parents through pregnancy, postpartum, and beyond. Looking forward to collaborating with Betty again in the future! #PelvicFloorPhysicalTherapy #PostpartumRecovery #PelvicHealth #MindAndMilk #newparents
