One doesn’t make it to the NHL level without working hard, but Ed Belfour took it to another level. So says his former teammate, Hockey Hall of Famer Guy Carbonneau, in this excerpt from an interview for an in-production Mint Farm Films documentary on Eddie The Eagle.

Ed still works hard, by the way, making whiskey through Belfour Spirits.

ON THIS DATE IN 1997: Ed Belfour signed with the Dallas Stars as a free agent. Right from the get-go it was a marriage made in heaven. In his first season with the team he went 37-12-10 with a 1.88 GAA, .916 SV% and 9 Shutouts while helping the Stars win the Presidents’ Trophy and reach the Conference Final. He then led the team to their first Stanley Cup the following season and had them back in the Cup Final a 2nd straight year.

Another edition of #TriviaTuesday featuring a former Carolina Hurricane in honor of their recent Stanley Cup win. This goalie has taken a very unique route, playing in 2 different Junior A / Tier 2 leagues before moving on to @umichhockey as a true freshman. After 2 seasons with the wolverines, he left and joined a different Junior A team and would later find himself with @gophermhockey. Can you guess who it is?

As for last week, the goalie in question is none other than @eddiebelfour @belfourspirits! Eddie the Eagle played in the @mjhlhockey before moving on to @undmhockey where he signed as an undrafted free agent with the @nhlblackhawks following his freshman season. Belfour went on to a long and successful pro career, highlighted with a Stanley Cup championship in 1999 with the Dallas Stars.

Forever fascinated by the Masked Men of hockey. goaltending is maybe one of the most unique positions in the major 4 sports.

Fearless, talented and a little crazy.. goalies are the last line of defence on every play. Nerves of steel and a short memory to go with it.

Excited to get out there again,

Received these a few months ago, but I forgot to show them off. Custom leather goalie mask & koozie made by my buddy @left_hand_leather I asked if he could do them in the style of the old geo-head UND Fighting Sioux (always was a favorite). He added #29 to koozie in honor of my favorite goalie (Ed Belfour). Not the head used when Eddie played, but it’s my koozie, so…
@left_hand_leather has made a few koozies for me. My first ones were for all the members of @exodusbandofficial (the guys really liked them), and a few hockey ones as well. I just had to give a huge shout out for the great work!!
