Saddened to hear about the passing of @baronessnewlove . I had the pleasure of meeting her earlier this year on the @vanessafeltzon5 show, she was genuinely lovely, warm, encouraging and even made the effort to stay in contact afterwards.

Her impact was profound, after the tragic attack on her husband she channelled her grief into national-level campaigning, became Victims’ Commissioner for England & Wales and worked tirelessly to make victims’ voices heard and neighbourhoods safer.

My thoughts go out to her family and loved ones at this sad time. ❤️

New YouGov poll commissioned by the Women’s Policy Centre:

🚨84% of Britons oppose replacing UK law with Sharia law. That’s not fringe — that’s mainstream.

🚨 59% of Brits want Sharia courts banned outright. The public is crystal clear — no parallel legal systems dismantling women’s rights

🚨 Two in three Britons believe Sharia law does not respect women’s rights. Only 3% think otherwise. Powerfully unanimous.

Sharia councils quietly erode the principle of equal justice under law. The majority of Britons say: stop this now. This is your wake-up call: Sharia in Britain is no longer a fringe question. The public rejects it — the government must act.

The time has come now for British authorities to wake up to the real-world implications of deferring to cultural norms and practices which devalue women’s personal legal status and lead to systemic criminal abuses of women and girls from both Muslim and non-Muslim backgrounds.

Islamic law has entrenched sexual inequality in Britain. Its legal principles have spawned clan systems in Britain, which enforce forms of male entitlement and privilege. Many practices in Muslim immigrant clan cultures implement strict dress codes for women and girls; arranged and cousin marriage, forced marriage, child marriages, and polygamy. Cultural honour-based codes are followed within Muslim clan groups, betraying a very high tolerance for various forms of domestic coercion, as well as physical and sexual abuse within the family. Sex-selective abortions will be viable options for women from cultures that push ‘son preference’. ✅ Read the full report on the @womenspolicycentre website
