One year ago today, my whole life turned upside down in an instant. Thankfully, no one was hurt, but the shop was destroyed and thousands of dollars of damaged items had to be cleaned out of the building. With the help of my friends, family and dear customers, we got it all done in a day. I will forever be thankful to those generous folks who gave up a Saturday and sweat like hell to help me.

Once our garage was packed full of the remaining items, it was now time for me to decide what my next step was. Would I give up my dream? Would I get a full time job doing something else? Would I quit my part time job and go full time at a new location?

I was in shock for at least a month, but once the shock wore off, I realized I couldn’t let the shop close out like that; it just didn’t feel right. With the help of my partner, family, friends and amazing customers, we started to raise money to start over. My partner started a gofundme to cover my lost income, pay for new stock to replace the damaged stock and to hopefully afford to rent a new location. We had a yard sale, a 50/50, water balloon fights and raised money online.

A customer reached out to me and told me about a spot that was for rent. I wasn’t sure if I could afford it, but I went to see it anyway. It was huge, twice or triple the size of the old shop. I had to figure out a way to afford it… and I thought… hmm, maybe I could have a spot for other vintage sellers to sell their wares and that would pay for some of the space. I contacted some local sellers and hoped they would be up for the challenge. And they were.

The rental agreement was signed and days of painting and construction ensued. I wouldn’t have been able to finish it without the help of so many amazing people. I am eternally grateful to you.

On November 1st, 2025, just 3 months after the crash, the new shop was open. I’m not sure how we did it, but we did.

The past year has been a whirlwind. There’s been a lot of work, change, love, struggles, smiles and laughs. I wouldn’t be here if it weren’t for all of you who helped me get here. I just wanted to say thank you.

To the next year…

Cheers,
Chase
