Jimmy Perry Stadium. 💙

I’m not sure there are words for what it feels like to see your dad’s name permanently attached to a place that meant so much to him and to our family.

I spent six years of my own life at this school and cheered on this very field from 7th through 12th grade. But my connection to it is only one piece of our family’s history there. My mom cheered on this field, too, and was crowned Homecoming Queen on it, with my dad driving the car for her. My brother played football on it. And last night, our family stood there with us as we honored one of the two people who shaped me most.

Every one of us has touched this field in a different way, in a different season of our lives. And now it bears my dad’s name.

There was something incredibly full-circle about that.

Dad poured so much of himself into this school, his players, and this community. Seeing so many people come together to remember him, share stories, hug our family, and celebrate the impact he made was incredibly special.

Of course, I wish more than anything that he could have been standing there with us. But seeing JIMMY PERRY STADIUM across those gates, and knowing his name and his legacy will remain part of this place for generations to come, is a gift I’m not sure I’ll ever have the right words for.

There are so many people who worked to make this happen, and our family is incredibly grateful to every one of you.

And a very special thank you to my sweet bestie, Haley, who poured so much time and love into making the pavilion and the entire evening beautiful. Having one of my favorite people play such a big part in honoring one of the most important people in my life made an already special night mean even more. 💙

What an incredible way to honor a life well lived and a legacy that continues.🪽
