Fall Retreat was a blast!!

I’m so blessed to have had an experience like this. Jesus was moving throughout the weekend in hundreds of different ways through so many different people, including myself. This weekend was full of fun, laughter, tears, surrender, growing, and new connections.
I feel like the theme of the weekend was being closer. Being closer to the Lord, being closer to friends, and being closer to those who need Christ. Pastor Josh from Eastview did a great job teaching us what it means to be closer to the Lord and continue to stay close to him and each other after retreat. One of the things he said that stuck with me is that’s the Gospel is not humanity’s great search for God, but instead, it is the story of God moving toward us and showing us who He is. He meets us where we are at. We just have to surrender and accept Him, which is something I have been struggling with lately. I don’t know about others, but I have always felt like I needed to reach a certain goal or way of living in order to be right with God. I feel as though I needed to make myself worthy of Him. But, in reality, Jesus does not say “become worthy before you follow me”, he says “follow me and let me begin to transform you”. I have sat with this and am beginning to realize that even though I’m not perfect and shouldn’t be worthy of God’s love, His grace covers me and He loves me. And I am so thankful that I have been able to go to this retreat and witness His love all around me.
