On September 5, 2026, Barbara and I made this 24”x80” mixed media painting. My sister, Mindy passed just hours before. It’s a tribute to her creative spirit. May it live on in our hearts forever. Title: A Pocket Full of Mindy.

You are invited! 🤍
The Hands Project opening reception is right around the corner.
📅 September 24, 5:30–8:30 PM
📍 LoSo Studios, 113 Freeland Ln, Charlotte, NC 28217

Haven’t RSVP’d yet? We’d love to know you’re coming, visit —-> HandsOnWell.org/thehands

Haven’t checked out the art book yet?
visit —-> HandsOnWell.org/thehands

Pre-orders are open now and will be ready for pickup at the opening.
There’ll also be a limited number of extra copies to buy on the night, or you can order online for later pickup or delivery.
It’s the only fundraising piece tied to what we set out to do from the very beginning: supporting children in foster care and our local arts community.

One more thing. @stanleydesbasphotography is a photographer and videographer who recently moved from New York, and he’ll be volunteering to capture the evening for us.
He’s also working on an artist interview project and putting together branding footage for local artists, so if that sounds like something you’d want to be part of, find him on the night.

I couldn’t have brought this project to life without all of you, and I can’t wait to celebrate this moment together

🧠 Sometimes you just have to defrag the brain with a leisurely stroll through the halls of @thevapacenter. There are literally hundreds of amazing creatives there waiting for YOU to discover them!

Here’s the artists that caught my eye during my last visit:
@madelynhernandezart
@hollyspruck or hollyspruck.com
@bellisarts
@catbmakes
@josegvazquez.artesano
@rebeccalippsart
@sharon_dowell
@cravotta_photography
@arthurbros

☀️The best time to visit VAPA is during Open Studios every First Saturday from 12-6pm. This is when artists open up their studio doors and invite you inside for a closer look.

🌙If you’re looking for a different vibe, check out the Night Market every Second Saturday from 6-10pm.

📍700 N Tryon St
(however the entrance is actually on College Street. Take Montford Pt Street to circle around.)

**The Hands Project Update**

September gave me a chance to pause while reviewing documents and organizing the project. It was a meaningful break.
So far, 31/100 hands are completed and I’ve met 65/100 participants.

Updated documents will be sent before October—please check your inbox.

I’m really looking forward to meeting and working with everyone on the list! As the project resumes, I’d be grateful for your continued support and encouragement.
