With steady rainfall coming down yesterday, it gave me the urge share a list of some of our family’s favorite rainy day spots in the Minneapolis/St. Paul metro. Go see the exquisite artwork of the @mnbotanicalart at the @bellmuseum. Decades in the making, this collection is a Mn treasure and the artistry is unbelievable. Get up close and take in some of these works that due to subtle color layering have taken a year or more to complete. Top notch, we are so lucky to have these plants so lovingly recorded!

"The Urban Ecosystem: Music Inspired by the Nature of Cities" is a collaboration between Seattle-based composer Jessi Harvey @jessiharveymusic, the Twin City’s own 10th Wave Chamber Music Collective @10thwavemusic, and the Minneapolis-St. Paul Long-Term Ecological Research (MSP LTER) Program housed at the University of Minnesota. We’re proud to share that the complete collection of 111 watercolors from the Eloise Butler Wildflower Garden and Bird Sanctuary Florilegium is on exhibit now through January 3, 2027, at the Bell Museum in St. Paul. A florilegium is a compendium of illustrations of the plants in a particular place, as a visual and historical record. The exhibit showcases them through hands-on activities, such as a collaborative garden mural and an opportunity to learn to draw plants, as well as video projection and collections highlights, including specimens collected by Eloise Butler herself for the University of Minnesota Herbarium. You're invited to join the Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board tomorrow at the Bell Museum to celebrate the artists who contributed. Wild Beauty: Meet the Artists at the Bell Museum 📆 Wednesday, October 7 | 2-3:30 pm 📍 2088 Larpenteur Ave W, St. Paul Refreshments will be served, and the Bell-produced, temporary exhibition Wild Beauty: The Botanical Art of the Eloise Butler Wildflower Garden Florilegium will be open for viewing. RSVP free tickets for audiences 18 and under. The Urban Ecosystem: Music Inspired by the Nature of Cities Thursday Oct 8 7:00PM (pre-show activities start 6:00PM) Friday Oct 11 5:30PM (pre-show activities start 4:30PM) PRE-SHOW TABLING AND ACTIVITIES Starting an hour before the show begins, kids and adults can learn about the research with activities like big jenga, scoping out little critters from our forests and ponds, looking at maps, and others! Talk with the researchers and Bell staff members that will be at the activity stations starting at 6PM on Thursday and 4:30PM on Sunday. There may be some Community tickets (for adults) left for Thursday, so the whole family can come for free. Check the Community tickets at the ticket portal here. PARKING Paid surface lot parking in Lot 103 is available with an entrance off of Larpenteur Ave. The daily rate is $6. More info can be found here: Directions and Parking details EXHIBIT HOURS If you want to visit the museum exhibits: The museum exhibits will be open from 10-4pm for each show day. Thursday doors will open at 6pm for the 7pm show, and Saturday doors open at 4:30pm for the 5:30pm show. Link in our story and bio.
