finding a sense of community is something i’ve always wanted but haven’t always had. 🤍

when i moved here from florida, i hoped i’d find my people and build a life that felt like my own. and somewhere along the way, i realized… this is it!!!

the people, the small businesses, the friendships, the support. it all means more to me than i can put into words.

i’m so much happier here in lake norman, and i’ll never take for granted the community that’s made this place feel like home. 🫶

Need a little Practical Magic?? ✨🕯️🎃

I gathered all my talisman together (@emilyinyourphone ‘s book, my @bellsboxcollective candles, and my @ashleylongshoreart coffee table tome) to ward off the evil spirits in these amendments.

Let’s protect North Carolinians against power hungry politicians and vote against all 3 amendments at the bottom of your ballot.

Republicans know that their failing policies are so unpopular that they will lose power, so they’re working to destroy the future of our state by locking in massive tax breaks for billionaires and big corporations like Duke Energy, all at the expense of making it more difficult for local governments to pay for the critical services that the working people of our state need.

For example, with the property tax amendment — you might save $33 (less than the cost of filling up your gas tank), while Duke Energy saves $96,000 with the same tax break. And with the income tax amendment, the richest North Carolinians would save $41 for every $1 you save.

And the money you “save” from the amendments? Local governments would $950 million dollars in revenue, meaning less money for schools, emergency services, infrastructure, or even responding to natural disasters.

Republicans are trying to steal money from local governments, from services you depend on, and gift it to the billionaires and corporations in our state.

That’s a ripoff. Vote AGAINST these misleading amendments (including the voter ID one, which doesn’t protect the citizens who have more difficulty accessing the ballot box).

Scenes from a storytelling session 🤍

What if your family photos could feel like a memory? Not just what everyone looked like at this point in time, but what life together actually felt like.

This session happens to be with my own family, in a place that has become woven into our family’s story. I photograph them here every fall, and each year it feels a little like watching time pass right in front of me.

And maybe that’s why I feel so drawn to photographing families this way. Because so much of what we’ll want to remember isn’t necessarily the big stuff. It’s how little they felt curled up next to you. The way they laughed. The things they did over and over that you thought you’d never forget.

And then somehow, you do.

Storytelling sessions are a chance to slow all of that down for a little while. To capture your family as you really are, in the season you’re in, and to make photographs that hopefully bring you right back to it someday.

I still have fall mini sessions available if you’re looking for something short and sweet this season. But if you’re wanting something a little slower, a little more meaningful, and a whole lot more you…

i got to bring so many incredible women together at bells box with cory, and watching everyone create their own custom candles was so much fun!!

we shared our favorite lake norman memories, blended scents inspired by the places and moments we love most, and one of those candles will become the official lake norman scent that will live on the shelves at bells box. 🕯️
