Seven colours. Seven Sundays. One colourful celebration of food, design and neighbourliness. 🌈

This winter, Watershed joined our @vandawaterfront neighbour Marble for Seven Colour Sundays, bringing a much-loved South African food tradition together with the work of local designers and makers.

Across the season, Chic Fusion @chicfusiontextiles , Zizamele @ceramicszizamele , Cool Tabs @cool_tabs , Afrographic Studio @afrographic_studio , Beloved Beadwork @belovedbeadwork , Mia Mélange @miamelange , Project Dyad @projectdyad and Wild Skins @wild_skins_watershed brought each colour to life, with their locally made pieces forming part of the Sunday experience.

From the plate to the product, it was a celebration of the creativity that lives within our neighbourhood — and what becomes possible when food, design and local makers share the table.

That’s V&A Waterfront neighbourliness in full colour. 🌈

As we move into a new year, I'm delighted to share the launch of a long-held vision to open @belovedbeadworknorthamerica. After working with an incredible group of women beadwork artists in Cape Town for nearly 20 years, Anna Richerby and I have created a curated collection of beadwork available for acquisition in the USA and Canada. Each piece reflects core principles of labor dignity by providing sustainable incomes and flexibility for all artists. Visit our new online store [belovedbeadworknorthamerica.com], Follow @belovedbeadworknorthamerica, and sign up for our newsletter. Every piece connects wearable sculptural art to support for global women artists and the principles of ethical exchange.

The process of beadwork is labor-intensive—it’s this time and attention to detail which make these pieces truly special. Each pair of Grace Jones earrings is a work of art, taking up to four hours to create with the finest beads and exceptional skill.

We love how the thousand hill necklace looks and feels on. This necklace takes about 18 hours of intricate hand weaving to create. The most beautiful statement piece.
