This is @nonaiscool signing off! Thank you to everyone who’s followed along the last two weeks. It’s been both challenging and fulfilling to do a deep dive into my own work, to look through recent projects and a few I hadn’t revisited in years. For some it was the first time I really analyzed the process - being pushed to explain my thinking revealed some patterns and approaches that are much clearer in hindsight.

I’m so lucky to have had such amazing collaborators and crew without whom none of this is possible. I’m grateful for all of the directors who inspire me, challenge me, and don’t take no for an answer (you know who you are and I love you for this!)

A special shout to my fellow DPs who are an infinite well of knowledge and support, who talk me off ledges, coordinate screenings, lens tests and offer guidance and advice (the technical kind, the practical kind, the emotional kind) - we really have something special here in one another.

Thank you @theicfc and @fafavienne for letting me take over! It’s been a blast!

Celebrating Women’s History Month 🎥 Megan Masur, SOC (@merakifilmnyc)⁣
⁣
Hi, I’m Megan Masur, SOC & I’m thrilled to be part of this impressive list of Women Ops I adore. I am continually inspired by how to move a camera to fit the story!⁣
⁣
I am a Camera Operator + Steadicam + Gimbal Op, w/ a background in post-production. I have worked as an A Op/Steadi on features, TV, commercials, unscripted, & docs. I am also a T1D & an avid figure skater/skier. When I started Steadi Op’ing 10 yrs ago, I could count on one hand the number of female Ops in NYC. Now, that number has grown & I am so excited to see more women doing this!⁣
⁣
You can see my work on the HBO Original doc “The Stroll,” which won a Special Jury Prize at Sundance 2023. And check out 13: The Musical on Netflix. I worked on “Power Book II: Ghost” and “The Last OG” alongside DP Daniel Patterson, whom I met while filming a Steadicam oner at the Guggenheim Museum. Finally, I’ve worked on a variety of commercials for brands including Apple, Michael Kors, Reebok, Revlon, Nike, & many more. You can even see me operating IN an iPhone 13 commercial shot by @greigfraser_dp & directed by thekathrynbigelow. ⁣
⁣
In my free time, I volunteer w/ the SOC’s Education Committee & help run Local 600 ER Women’s Committee @nyclocal600women. I also organize a NYC Steadicam Practice group once a month. ⁣
