“We are each a unique individual who could never have happened before and could never happen again.” — Gloria Steinem For our first Weldun Voice, we sat down with Gloria Steinem in her living room to talk about why the categories we’re placed in shouldn’t define us, how her glasses became a kind of armor, and why functionality and beauty should coexist. Watch the full conversation, and tell us: what’s your armor? Photographer and Director: @paolakudacki Art Direction: @studio_rapp Styling: @d_i_a_n_n_a___l_u_n_t Producer: @laurencetooley 1st Assistant: @spencerostrander 1st AC: @emmapenrose Audio Tech: Jackson Tooley Digital Tech: Cat Marshall DOP: @kyrrekristoffersen Editor: @ben_wulff Agent: @nickbryning Producer: @marygoughnour ALT TEXT: A title card reads “WELDUN Voices 001: Gloria Steinem,” with her name in handwritten script over a film-frame border. Gloria Steinem, wearing a black top and glasses, sits on a green velvet sofa piled with red and gold tapestry pillows in a warm, lamp-lit living room. She talks to an interviewer, gesturing as she speaks. Between the interview shots are close-ups: her face framed in vintage film borders on rust and orange backgrounds, the interviewer handing her pages, and Gloria adjusting her glasses as she explains that they’ve been a kind of defense. Subtitles run throughout. Gloria’s lines include “We are each a unique individual” and “Functionality and beauty should coexist.”

In 2024, @ben_wulff and I rode single-speed bikes the length of Long Island from Queens to Montauk. It was a gruelling and surreal experience. When we arrived at the end of the island we had this chance encounter with a beached and abandoned yacht. Definitely mafia related. Thank you Ben for carrying my bag when my back was hurting.
