There is an enduring fluidity in Jerstin Crosby’s work—a commitment to experimentation that moves seamlessly across his interdisciplinary practice. This is most apparent where distinctions between media begin to dissolve: paintings become objects, and objects, in turn, take on the logic of images. From 2020 to 2023, Crosby worked with cut forms layered into shaped supports that extended from the wall, creating a depth both literal and illusory. More recently, he has shifted toward singular planes of canvas and paper, while maintaining an interest in the interplay between foreground and background—their push and pull, and occasional collapse. This spatial tension is one facet of a complex visual language Crosby has developed over time, unfolding across drawing, painting, and sculpture as an ongoing, interconnected exploration.⚪️

Kennedi Carter is a digital media artist based in Durham, North Carolina. Her practice explores the complexities of Blackness within the intimate spaces of our communities, focusing on how we remember moments of freedom. Through a blend of found and personal photographs, Carter captures fleeting experiences that evoke ancestral memory, highlighting the connections between everyday life—such as the tender exchanges of our grandparents—and the broader contemporary landscape of Black southern living. ⚪️

Our new website is LIVE!!!

Artsuite is an online platform that celebrates contemporary art by showcasing artists, sharing collectors’ perspectives, publishing art books, and offering limited-edition works to connect more people with meaningful art. Though we’ve organized exhibitions, Artsuite is not a traditional gallery. Rather, we work on a project-by-project basis, seizing opportunities - both physical and virtual - to connect artists with the broader community. 🟡

“It’s not a question of better or worse. The point is, not to resist the flow. You go up when you’re supposed to go up and down when you’re supposed to go down. When you’re supposed to go up, find the highest tower and climb to the top. When you’re supposed to go down, find the deepest well and go down to the bottom. When there’s no flow, stay still. If you resist the flow, everything dries up. If everything dries up, the world is darkness.”

Our @benalper visited an artist’s studio last week and had to maneuver a bit (on an elliptical no less) to get the absolute best portrait possible.

A glimpse into what we’ve been up to…

Stay tuned for more!

Today we’re pleased to present an interview between Jon Feinstein (@jonfeinstein) and Ben Alper (@benalper).

“For the two decades I’ve known him, Ben Alper has made work about layering, wandering, and reimagination,” says Feinstein at the link in bio. “From digitally altering and erasing scanned family photos to compositing the same urban landscape multiple times, his art is often about the fragmented ways we remember personal and collective history.”

🗓️ Alper’s latest exhibition, Memory Place, is on view at Seasons LA through Feb 15.

“At its core, the project operates as a memory palace. Each photograph preserves an encounter, a residue of lived moments layered in the mind like the histories buried beneath Rome’s ancient streets, momentarily fixed before returning to the flow of history and memory.”

Ecstatic for this!!! @benalper @seasons_la 🔴
Regram from Seasons:
We are very happy to announce our first exhibition of 2026

Seasons 07: Ben Alper “Memory Place”
Opening January 17, from 6:00 - 9:00 pm

“Rome is a place almost worn out by being looked at, a city collapsing under the weight
of reference.” -Graham Joyce

Rome lingers in the mind — a psychic space as much as a physical one where, as Freud suggested, all layers of history coexist. Alper’s work explores the city as a living palimpsest: a place where antiquity and modernity collide, and where remnants of the past persist beneath the surface of the present. Long shaped by photographs, films, and cultural memory, Rome is encountered here not as a singular image but as a layered and incomplete experience.
