20” wild brown on a dry fly by Derrick’s longtime customer Ben Chang- he must be a good student because he caught this one on a solo outing. New River report is up, click the website link on our Bio page. Just got the email: there reducing the dam release from 316 CFS to 180 CFS. Combined with the Still River, the flow in the permanent TMA/catch & release will be mid to upper 300cfs range, an excellent level for fishing, wading, and should provide more rising trout. The Hendrickson hatch is still solid from approximately New Hartford (where UpCountry is) up to about the junction with the Still River (Pipeline/Lyman’s Rock). Warm weather this week should push the bottom end of the hatch further upstream and I suspect you’ll see it pushing into Riverton above the River this week as water temps rise. Look for rising trout during the afternoon Hendrickson hatchatch and during spinner falls, the nymphing has been very consistent with a variety of patterns, and streamer fishing has also been productive. Quite a few big wild & holdover brown trout were landed over the weekend, along with some giant rainbows up to about eight pounds. -Torrey.

Ben stung this hefty 20” female today during our half day lesson. He picked up the new technique I showed him in minutes and was rewarded by the fish gods.
