Monday blues….
Another one from the ‘Rooms in my Head’ series….
@housebeautiful and the wonderful ‘Instant Room’ column, 2011… @bendoro had called me to say I was to do one… designers imagined a room, an illustration was key, and one had to select fabrics and trims and other ingredients if so desired. So I immediately thought of a breakfast room ‘in the sky’ with a bay window and a window seat. Then I called my friend, the late, great @jeremiah_goodman to do the illustration or better the ‘room portrait’… he asked about every detail.
I told him about a polychrome terracotta gourd tureen as a centerpiece, a console, a mirror, the table cloth and the red patent leather chairs, the shiny sky blue wallpaper on the ceiling…. It was all a fantasy - one he so nonchalantly painted after I had dropped all the fabric samples with him… then the finished work was hand delivered to the Hearst building by yours truly, where @tnt3 had called a staff viewing… those are memories living rent free in my head forever….
As for the art, I’m looking at it everyday- it’s next to my desk in the office and I chuckle - as Jeremiah had told me after revealing the finished work at his apartment on an easel and a makeshift brown paper ‘curtain’ that was lifted, I couldn’t possibly take it with me yet, as he needed to have a mat cut and sign it and I would have to come back….

🪩✨ Tu étais belle, Deco Off 2026 ✨🪩

There was art. There was food. There was fashion. There was (lots of) champagne, and there were days spent exploring beauty, studying its presence in both grandeur and in the city’s more hushed subtleties.

But above all, there was a week shared with some of my very favorite people, as we invited ourselves to wander, wonder, and just be - those are the moments that will forever have my heart ♥️

I am so very grateful for my brother @matthew.owen.coody @lindaeylesdesign and @creativetonic who made the journey with me and I’m serving up *all* the hugs and high fives for our friends at @spreadcommunications and @megbell.creative for being the absolute best Paris PR Pals a gal could ask for 💋

Thank you for those of you who endured the heat and came out to Carefree, AZ last Friday! Despite the scorching Phoenix summer🔥☀️ there was a wonderful turnout for the artist reception at the Hilton’s Hampton Inn exhibition, “Art In Public Places,” in collaboration with the Sonoran Arts League. 🖼️🍷 Guests mingled, viewed works by the selected artists, sipped wine, and enjoyed delicious bites courtesy of the nearby English Rose Tea Room. 🍓🥮🧁
A big thank you also to my family and friends who came out in support! 💗 I truly love and appreciate you 😘💕 Sorry I did not get photos with everyone. This exhibition runs through December so feel free to take a look when you are in the area!
ART NOTE: I am exhibiting my diptych mixed media painting, Wild Santa Rita, and the beautiful cactus painting in blues and oranges is by my artist friend Sue Eddy @itsueddy 🌵 💙🧡💜
