The most valuable skill is Time management. Here’s some tips.

1. Simple improvements in time add up significantly. Let’s say you sleep 1 extra hour a night. Might not sound like a lot. But 1 hour a night is an entire extra nights sleep every week. That’s almost 2 months of extra sleep in a year!!!

2. Apply concept to pools. The least productive hour of my day is the last hour. For me, pools take longer after lunch and traffic increases. By eliminating my last hour of unproductive work, I’ve gained 3 extra weeks off a year.

3. Remember acid/chlorine and the pump and filter are far better at keeping a pool clean than you are. You are insignificant compared to chems and filtration. Let those things save you time by having them balanced and working properly.

3. Focus all time on 3 subjects. Health, Money, Relationships. All meaning comes from those 3 subjects. Hobbies are important as well. The lucky ones made exercise their hobby.

4. Take all non health, money and family task; washing car, cleaning house, difficult customers, paying bills, ect… and use the Tim Ferris method. Eliminate (Difficult customers, far drives) Automate (bills, chemical supplies) Delegate (cleaning house, cleaning truck) ect… But You’ll never be able to eliminate, automate or delegate your health, family or money.

5. Batch task together. Example; Clean all your pools before stopping to do a filter. Even if that means you have to backtrack. Multitasking seems to be more effective but it’s proven to waste time. 10 min pools will suddenly take 15 min each after you multitask. With 15 pools left you just wasted an hour and a half of your day because you didn’t want a 10 min backtrack.

6. Lastly, The universe will challenge your new paradigm by sending vampires to suck your free time away. On your first early day. You finish at 11:00am at 11:01am someone will call for a quote. They will be far away, have 30 min of questions and then never hire you for anything. They can’t hire you because they are not real. They were time vampires connecting to your new conscious thoughts sent to challenge you and suck your new energy. Don’t do it. #pool #poolservice #diy #insta

I have become notoriously fast at service after cleaning roughly 45,000 pools! A common complaint is about how long service pro’s spend in the backyard.

First and most important the pool needs to be crystal clear, with no debri or algae. If you leave a pool quickly and there is still visible algae or debri then you deserve the complaint. But if the pool looks good I do not entertain the “you are too fast” complaint.

Here is how I handle it;

After receiving the complaint. Just say, “I’m so sorry I am in (far away city) but I will come back right now” knowing what a inconvenience that is they might say “it’s ok, next time” but just ignore it and don’t respond. They will assume ou got it and not returning. Continue your regular route for the next 30 min or so and then go back to the house. Go up to the pool with your cleaning gear, look around and then call them.

When they answer say “Hi, Mr. Smith I just got back to your pool but I don’t see any algae or leafs or anything. It looks perfect, What was it you wanted me to do?”

They usually will apologize you came all the way back and admit they love the job you do and the pool looks great all the time, but they just wanted you to be there longer.

Just rephrase what they said back to them, it’s always the same btw. “Ok, so the pool looks great, you’re happy and everything is good you just want me to be here longer is that correct?”

They will feel very awkward having to say “Yes” and realize their pointless request. At the same time realizing how dedicated you are to their request when they really need you. Respond with, “ok I will just try to stay a little longer then” (intending that it’s not needed)

After that they will never complain about your time again. Just keep the pool good.
