This foam roof failed years before it should have.

After tearing it off, we found only about one inch of foam installed over the plank roof deck. On this type of deck, proper seam preparation and foam thickness are critical.

We tape the plank seams and apply at least 1½ inches of spray foam to create a stronger, long-lasting roofing system.

A foam roof isn’t just about spraying foam. The preparation, thickness, and application are what determine whether it lasts—or fails early.

When the source of a roof leak isn’t obvious, sometimes we have to recreate the rain. 💦

We use a hose to carefully wet one section of the roof at a time while watching for signs of water intrusion inside. This helps us isolate the problem area instead of guessing and applying repairs where they may not be needed.

The tricky part? Water can travel before it finally shows up inside the home—so the ceiling stain isn’t always directly below the roof leak.

A controlled water test can be an effective way to track down a stubborn leak.
