Merci @photo.elysee for this moment in Lausanne

This work was made during lockdown and never quite had its moment. Seeing it now years later in a museum feels quietly surreal.

Returning to personal work this year, 2026 Year of the Horse, it’s time we move again 💋

@photo.elysee GEN Z exhibition in @aperturefnd / @mschristinamaria interviewed 3 artists and curator @hannahprobsting: ‘Photography has offered this generation a platform to speak for themselves, and maybe that comes from platforms like Instagram, maybe it comes from the fact that many, many young people even from an early age have a camera with them. But no longer are we relying on people from the outside to go in and represent different cultures, different communities, different voices. Through photography, this generation is able to advocate for themselves and have their own voice.´ / Repost • @mschristinamaria For Aperture, I travelled to Lausanne, Switzerland to look at the works of 66 image-makers in @photo.elysee’s “Gen Z: Shaping A New Gaze” exhibition. I was struck by how many self portraits comprised the exhibition, and in particular, how many photographers featured remote releases in their pictures. I conducted a roundable interview with artists Isabella Madrid (Colombia), Fatimazohra Serri (Morocco), Ben Hubert (United Kingdom), and curator Hannah Pröbsting to discuss this new generation of image makers.
