From Out From The Mist to Australia’s Parliament House. This week, a selection of photography from our 2025 finalists was exhibited at Parliament House in Canberra, home of Australia’s Federal Parliament. The pop-up was part of Parliamentary Friends of Mental Health, bringing together Parliamentarians and more than 60 representatives from across Australia’s mental health sector. For an international competition like Out From The Mist, this is what we love to see. Work shared from around the world finding its way into places where conversations about mental health can have real influence. A pretty incredible place for finalists’ stories to land.

You can’t come away from a conversation with Gill Hicks without feeling inspired. Twenty years after surviving the London bombings, Gill continues to do extraordinary work as a global changemaker, bringing people together and reminding us of the humanity we share. What struck us most was that her life has been shaped not by what was taken from her, but by what she chooses to carry forward: compassion, connection, gratitude and hope. So lucky to share Gill’s story in the Hope Issue of Embrace magazine. Read it here ❤️ https://www.flipsnack.com/AF66FBC9E8C/embrace-magazine-issue-2 ✍️ Amelia 📷 @benjaminliew For Embrace magazine (Issue 2) @bodyimagemovement @_theembracecollective

Chenrezig Sand Mandala Day 9 This mandala of the Buddha of Compassion is nearly complete. Every grain placed as a blessing. On Sunday, it will be ritually dismantled, a teaching on impermanence. Come see it before it’s gone.

A Glimpse into Tibetan Buddhist Art A small but remarkable tool called a Chak-pur is traditionally used by Tibetan Buddhist monks to create intricate sand mandalas. With patience, concentration, and devotion, coloured sand is carefully placed grain by grain to form sacred patterns of extraordinary detail. The process is not only an expression of artistic skill, but also a reflection on impermanence, compassion, wisdom and the interconnectedness of all things. A beautiful glimpse into a centuries-old spiritual tradition, where art, meditation, and meaning come together. Photo credit 📷 benjaminliew

It was a cold, wintery evening for the recent Adelaide Salon, but that didn’t deter the audience who braved the freezing conditions to come along and hear our conversationalists, Jasmine Placentino and Vi Truong. Thanks to our audience for turning out in droves to listen to the discussion, catch up, connect and meet someone they don’t know. Big thanks to @benjaminliew for these fantastic photos and @zenithinteriors_ for hosting in their beautiful Adelaide showroom. The Salon crowd enjoyed an open, generous conversation about career, design culture and the choices that shape a life in architecture. Jasmine and Vi reflected on their career trajectories to date, from their early starts in big practice, to lessons learned and design cultures they admire, to the importance of being very intentional about career decisions. They also spoke warmly about Adelaide’s vibrant and connected design community, and the opportunities it has given them. Their advice for others was simple but powerful. Seek out good people and practices who value and support you. Trust your design instincts. Travel! Embrace the chance to learn from different cultures and other ways of living. #parloursalon #careerconversations #adelaidearchitecture #buildingconnections

Last week, we had the privilege of hosting the incredibly talented @wmamot for an inspiring fashion photography workshop!✨ Throughout the session, Weronika guided attendees through four distinct fashion lighting setups (plus variations), sharing the thought process behind each approach and demonstrated how lighting can completely transform the mood and impact of an image. Weronika had warned us beforehand of her speed in setting up, and she absolutely hammered home her point by smashing out the stunning lighting setups with precision 😁 Using a range of @profoto gear including d3’s and a beauty dish, magnum reflector and umbrellas + the @pmi_gear smoke ninja and with support by @diamondscamera and @c.r.kennedyimaging , Weronika generously offered a behind-the-scenes look into her creative workflow including: - pre-production planning and shoot preparation - colour theory - styling decisions - directing and posing models with purpose. What made the workshop so valuable was the opportunity to watch a photographer who has truly mastered her craft work in real time, explaining not just what she does, but why she does it. A huge thank you to Weronika for sharing her knowledge and experience with our community. And thank you to all the attendees on the night! If you missed this workshop and would like to see it return OR if you wanna see more fashion photography education let us know in the comments below! Cyclorama etiquette 101 📸 We adore our cyc, and many of you love using it too. Over 10+ years of use and hiring it out, we have a few basic guides to ensure it’s looked after and well maintained for use by everyone. One of the basic principles that some may not be aware of, is to avoid standing on the curve or placing hands on the wall unnecessarily. This can lead to very visible marks on the cyc. The wall and curve cannot be cleaned as we use a matte finish paint, so please don’t allow subjects to put hands or feet on the wall. If it’s unavoidable please ensure they wash their hands or wear socks. We love offering our shooters a presentable space for their shoots but cannot re-paint the walls every day so this our etiquette note #1 :) Stay tuned for more tips on how to shoot on a Cyc 💁 PS these are NOT recommended poses LOL 🫣 Any questions about our cyc - feel free to send us an email or DM!

Ever heard of an edge mask? It’s a very unique attachment that you can slap onto your @profoto soft box. We decided to have a cheeky little experimentation with ours. Alongside pairing it with a set of @leefilters gels. We’ve just skimmed the surface of how we can utilise the edge mask and have a feeling there are a lot of cool variations we will discover in time. Got any suggestions on how you can utilise this nifty little attachment? Let us know!
