On their ten year anniversary, Ben got on one knee to ask Mattie to spend eternity with him. It was the dreamiest morning in Prospect Park, a slice of heaven indeed.

& now, two weeks later to the day, it’s Ben’s birthday, so be sure to send a congratulations + happy birthday to him, as they both deserve THE world.

We gathered with creators in a phones-down room for a conversation about mental health, the power of stories, and the importance of community for #MentalHealthAwarenessMonth.

A huge thank you to @RemiBader, @CarlRadke and @softbarcafe for hosting and creating a safe space, and to @5hahem for helping lead the conversation. Creators left feeling empowered, connected, and refreshed. Many told us they had never been to an event like this before, and did not realize it was a space they had been needing.

We are grateful to @Maybelline for powering this event, and for helping build a space where people shaping culture can take care of themselves and each other.

A few things we heard from creators:

✨Show up authentically. There is no need to perform. Being honest, when you chose to share is a strength.

✨Community matters. Spend time with people who help you feel grounded, supported, and seen.

✨Talk to each other. Honest conversations between creators help us feel more connected and less alone.

This is the work we want to keep doing, and we are grateful to partners like Remi and Maybelline who make it possible.

If you are a creator or know someone who is, explore digitalstorytellingguide.com for creator-specific mental health tools and resources. Link in bio and IG Story.

A lot of work goes into just a minute of story when filming a movie. The whole process is an orchestra of teams all working together to make the same project.

Watch the full 15 min short film on YouTube for FREE under "Essentially Amy"!

Thank you to @clarkosalcantara for all the video BTS footage!

Check out my film "Essentially Amy", FREE to watch on YouTube. If you're feeling extra generous, a comment, a follow/subscribe, or Letterboxd review also helps 🫶🏽

I'm still learning to be a film director all the time. I would say my biggest philosophy is I want to try and make it as fun of an experience as possible, even with all the chaos that comes with making movies.

Thank you to @clarkosalcantara for capturing my mania and my insatiable big back appetite

Short Film: Essentially Amy - Free on YouTube (Link in Bio)

When I first pitched the idea to my team that I wanted to do a single take, especially as a first time director, there were concerns. It's a tricky shot to do both logistically and performatively. Luckily my producer @leftyproducer and my DP @ryanramsey helped me coordinate it 🙏🏽

I wanted the audience to be fully immersed with Amy in the stress and chaos of the scene. I rehearsed with the actors in a little park near my apartment all of the blocking, but on the day, I was still nervous. Thanks to the incredible performances of our actors and the great camera work by @steadidavid, we nailed it in one shot! We did a few more for safety, but I was so pleased.

Working with the music of @hua.hsuan and sound work of @lawrence_he, I wanted the feeling of anxiety and dread to build to its tipping point.

Do you think it paid off?

"Essentially Amy ultimately lands as a snapshot of endurance"

Thank you to @moviefestuk for providing such a kind and generous review, and for also sharing it with me so I can put it on my page too 🫶🏽

With the ways things are these days, I think endurance and community is something that is important to help us keep going 🖤
