A series of posters highlighting the anatomy of the Gotham typeface and structural rules of typography. - "Gotham is a typeface first designed in 2000 for GQ and released for public use in 2002. An abbreviated list of where it has appeared includes Coke bottles; Twitter; Spotify; Netflix; Saks; New York University; The Tribeca Film Festival; TV shows including CONAN and Saturday Night Live; movies including Inception, Moneyball, The Lovely Bones, and Moonlight. If the advertisements in the train stations and bus stops in your city don’t use Gotham, they probably use a Gotham look-alike. - Gotham is a geometric sans serif — sans serif meaning it lacks the little feet in the corners of letters you’d see in a typeface like Times New Roman, and geometric alluding to the influence of basic shapes in its design. It has a high x-height, meaning that lowercase letters like x and e are comparably large, and its different weights — bold, thin, medium, et cetera — are very distinct from one another. All of this is to say that Gotham can be easily read from a distance on a billboard or sign, making it a natural choice for print advertising." -The Outline - #graphicdesign #graphicdesignky #posterdesign #benjohnsondesign #benjohnsongraphicdesign #gothamtypeface #gothamfont #gothamposter #typographyposter #typography

Webster's // "Saving small-town America, one funky candy bar at a time." - Conceptual packaging design and brand story built from a word chosen at random in a dictionary. Each flavor supports a different restoration initiative in small towns across America, with the mission of each flavor listed on the back of the package – enabling consumers to feel good about their purchase and providing a fun story for them to follow on social media. - Watertower Watermelon Flavor Story: “Webster City, Iowa needs your help! Farmer John was conducting his nightly patrol of the town when he ran his tractor into the base of the water tower which began leaking after the accident. Some witnesses say that he got distracted while sipping on a glass of sweet tea and lost control of the tractor, however, that's neither here nor there. By purchasing our Watertower Watermelon flavor, a portion of the sales will go towards repairing the crack left behind by Farmer John. The townspeople have agreed to paint a large watermelon on the water tower as a display of their gratitude for your support! Follow along with this story by following us on social media @webstersbars, Farmer John might just give you a follow back.” - Buttered Popcorn Flavor Story: "Webster City, Iowa needs your help! The town's annual fall festival is at risk of being canceled this year due to a corn shortage. A large group of deer broke into the corn silo and spoiled the entire supply of popcorn kernels for this year's festival. The children within the town are distraught over the thought that there may not be a festival this year, as it is the one night each year when everyone comes together for a good time. By purchasing our Buttered Popcorn flavor, a portion of the sales will go towards shipping popcorn to Webster City. The townspeople have agreed to paint popcorn on the silo as a display of their gratitude for your support! Follow along with this story by following us on social media @webstersbars." - #graphicdesign #graphicdesignky #packagingdesign #benjohnsondesign #benjohnsongraphicdesign #candydesign #typography
