A one day screen acting workshop with director Ben Young 🎬

Ben is the award-winning director behind Disney+'s The Artful Dodger, Binge's Run, Hounds of Love and Netflix's Extinction. Now he's spending a full day in the room with actors.

You'll work on original, unproduced material from Ben's own projects (scenes that haven't been made yet), with Ben directing you on camera. No existing performance to copy. Just you, the script and the director.

What you'll work on:

Taking direction and turning a note around in the next take
Shifting your choices quickly without losing the truth
Building a character from the page alone
Q&A with Ben on the industry and working on international productions

🗓 Sunday 15 November, 10am to 4pm
📍 Ultimo Studio, Sydney
👥 Strictly limited to 14 actors

For actors with some training or on-set experience.

👀 Not ready to be on camera? A small number of audit places are available for $150. Watch Ben work through the day and join the Q&A.

As we come to terms with the painful loss of the great @samneilltheprop here are some of my cherished memories of this truly lovely man: being invited to join him for breakfast at a cafe in the country town of York, Western Australia, where we were filming Season 2 of The Twelve, sharing some of our favourite restaurants in Perth, and Sam snapping a photo of me with my breakfast roll; getting to admire the resilience of a man who was going through chemo yet filming for such long hours; seeing him forget his lines and then making the entire set laugh with his self deprecating comment “Well that was sh*t”, him giving me a nod of approval after I did a particularly emotional take, being in courtroom scenes with him and watching this great craftsman at work, getting to know him better through listening to his wonderfully written and narrated Audible autobiography, going up to him on set and telling him what a wonderful writer he is and him saying “You’re too kind”, saying I had also read the memoir “Reckoning” written by my friend @magda_szubanski and Sam saying “Now she’s the real writer”, and just Sam taking the time to say hello. May he rest in peace and hope he is kicking back and drinking a delicious glass of his favourite Pinot Noir as the world toasts him, thanks him and mourns him. #samneilltheprop #samneill #icon #beautifulhuman #anthonybrandonwong
