The trailer for “hangovers aren’t real” is here. My first film I’ve directed alongside a phenomenal team !!

“Can I watch it you ask?” Not yet I’m afraid. It’s now in the hands of the curators and programmers of film festivals. So pray for us 😘 but I’ll keep you posted on our journey, show you some fun behind the scenes along the way and then if you’re really patient (sorry!) I’ll be sending it your way to see. Yippee ✨

A broken super8 camera, a shortage of pineapples on the island, the wheel falling off the expensive grip vehicle we’d got shipped over from another island, being told our beach permits hadn’t come through, a location getting cold feet and pulling out the night before the shoot orrrr it just fucking raining, on an island, that everyone says never rains…

No matter how much you can plan, shit happens and my god have you got to learn how to roll with the punches, because one thing you know for sure, they’ll keep on coming.

BTS captured from shoot day 3 in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean on a little island called Fuerteventura. With smiles on our faces and film in the mag we made something we are truly proud of. We won’t talk about the super8 stuff….

Most people only ever see the finished frame.
The polished, colour graded, sound designed neatly packaged story.

But this is what it actually looks like getting there.
Day 2 of “hangovers aren’t real”

Shooting on film, not just because it’s trendy or nostalgic but because in a world of automation and AI we need to anchor ourselves in something human.

Films forces you to slow down, commit and trust your team.

This was never just mine.
It’s a shared vision, built by a crew that show up. Not just technically but emotionally invested in getting it right.

If you believe in human made work and you’d like to support getting this film seen, search “hangovers aren’t real gofundme”

This is the crew of dreams I found at the end of the rainbow. 🌈

Popped off to the Canary Islands for four days of hardcore scouting for my first ever short film I’m directing “hangovers aren’t real”

What a privilege to have Creme de la Creme crew working with us. What a privilege to share my story. What a privilege to get to fly out to Fuerteventura this gorgeous island and cruise around looking at natures most beautiful feature. I am so grateful.

I am also, tired, stressed, overworked. But what a privilege that that’s all doing something I love.

Now the pressures on for it to be bloody brilliant. Otherwise I’ll have the cast + crew to answer to.

“I’ve never felt so alone. I just didn’t want to be here but I had to be strong for my daughter”

7 years ago Natalie and her young daughter were made homeless: “it was a really dark moment...”I’ve never felt so alone”

A call from @sheltercharity changed everything.

“It was like someone putting a massive warm blanket around me and saying ‘it’s ok, we’ve got you. You’re not alone and we will be there beside you every step of the way’.”

“For me they were the light at the end of the tunnel”

Today Natalie and her daughter have a secure home: “it’s worth living, it’s worth being alive”

Today is World Homelessness Day - a day to reflect on the urgent need for change and the realities faced by those experiencing homelessness.

The figures are shocking- recent Shelter research found that 1 in 78 children are growing up homeless in England.

Behind every stat is a story like Natalie’s.

As a country we need to create a future where everyone has a safe place to call home.

Thank you to the incredible organisations and people working to change the situation including Shelter @crisis_uk @centrepointuk @changepleasefoundation @underonesky_london

This is a film we at @wearepropergoodfilms made with Natalie for Shelter a few years ago.

So great to look back on some of the Behind The Scenes photos from our ‘Toad Watch’ film. We worked with @zerohour_uk to create a film that focused on the benefits of a Climate & Ecology Bill in protecting nature and making sure the UK does its bit to avoid the worst impacts of climate change.
So, what has nature ever done for us?! - you can find out by watching the finished film, the link in our bio.
The campaign has had more than 370,000 views to date and was even shared by @montypythonofficial
