OBSESSION @Superpoze_ | 500T, 200T & 250D 35mm + 500T & 100T 16mm “DP James Beattie and I knew from the start that we had to shoot on film, to find a cinematic interpretation of these Rothko-inspired, floating, immersive color fields. With the weather proving unpredictable, we leaned into day-for-night techniques and layered filters, weaving the sky’s natural gradients into the palette. We explored mixing 16mm with 35mm, balancing the ethereal softness of 35mm with the more distinct 16mm grain. In the end, we shot with three cameras, shifting between setups and trusting our instincts in the moment. “We built a platform over the sea. That structure became the foundation for many of the setups. The levitation scenes then took us another full day to capture. None of this would’ve been possible without our performer, Titouan Croizier. He absorbed my references for movement and emotion and transformed them into something so visceral and powerful. From the beginning, our goal was to achieve as much as possible in-camera, using different filters to create bold, punchy looks.
