2024 was a chaotic year in the best way! It involved getting a Master’s degree in Houston, traveling to Europe for a month, teaching the gold-medalist Spartans, and moving to Boston. It was also the most stressful year of my life, but I am lucky to have been surrounded by amazing people throughout the entire year. I appreciate you all immensely!!!

Successful year done! New, exciting year ahead. Sometimes expectations aren’t very exact, right?

As I sit in the airport, about to depart to Houston for my final semester of grad school, I can finally take a step back and look at the past year. 2023 marked the start of a new chapter in my life, and boy did it start out swinging. It pushed me in ways I didn’t anticipate (good and bad), and set me up with a 2024 forecast including graduation, a trip to Europe, and another summer tour across the country teaching drum corps!

First off, I’m so happy that I am able to make a post about this. What started off as a super far fetched idea turned into one of the most fulfilling experiences I’ve ever had. Almost a year of work with these guys got us to compete at PASIC as the “WCU Snare Ensemble”. Being the first group to represent the school was so incredible and I’m beyond grateful for @benn__44 for writing and teaching us as well as @sfh11022 @ethan_farkouh @myabishop22 and @tim.spiotta for making it possible in the first place. But catch us next year though we’ll be back👀

The WCU Snare Ensemble hosted a clinic discussing their warm-up techniques, rehearsal process, and compositional process, ending with a performance of their show, “Title One”, written by their instructor Ben Baggerly. If you’re going to PASIC, check out their performance on Thursday at 3:08 PM!
