Earlier this month Phoenix Malanga ‘22 presented his newest work at @macsteelvt as a part of a two-week sculpture residency in Rutland, Vermont. His larger-than-life metal sculpture was comprised of found objects, steel, and other metal materials collaged together in the spirit of his father’s hobby: buying small plots of land and building collaged cabins. The piece is titled “син на татко” meaning “father’s son” in Macedonian.

Malanga’s work represents the artistic values of Bennington College, opening the door to thoughtful conversations about identity, communication, and human relationships.

If you or someone you know is a young and talented visual artist dedicated to these same values, please apply to the Bennington Young Creator Awards. Submissions open September 1st. More information is available on our website. Link in bio.

PRESS | Our Co-Founder and Creative Director Rafe Churchill (Bennington '91) sat down with his alma mater to talk about how four years in Vermont shaped everything that came after: a construction firm, a design practice (@hendrickschurchill), and now Place in Mind.

He credits Bennington for teaching him to break rules, combine interests, and build a life on his own terms. Read the full story at the link in bio.

Dev Wernik ‘26 is screening his film “Time Being” on August 5th at the Laemmle Town Center in Encino, California. “Time Being” acted as his Bennington College senior project in visual arts. The film screening is free admission, but Wernik is also accepting donations.

Dev Wernik is an aspiring paid-filmmaker born and raised in Los Angeles, California. A recent Bennington Alumni, Dev spent the previous two years formulating and, eventually, creating his thesis film, “Time Being.” Made to grieve, the film is part travelogue, part film-essay, and part funeral that loudly showcases its flaws rather than trying to conceal them. Dev is back home in LA where he edits for the Queerty Award Winning “Kelly Mantle Show” and a variety of other trans, drag, and queer productions. He is currently writing his next film, which focuses on a group of severely flawed young men over a 24-hour period.

Film Title: “Time Being”
Address: 17200 Ventura Blvd. Encino, CA 91316
Time: August 5th at 6:30 PM
Reserve Tickets: link in @dev_wernik bio
