BEN PROBERT | KINGS | TWR005 Third World Records welcomes Ben Probert for his debut on the label with KINGS, a seven-track, three-sided LP built from a collection of music that had been sitting quietly in the archives, finally finding its moment. Spanning immersive soundscapes, metallic dub, late-night house and stripped-back club tools, KINGS is less about chasing trends and more about trusting instinct. Shades of June opens the record by abandoning the expectation of writing purely for the club, setting an atmospheric tone before EITS locks into effortless, dubbed-out momentum. Maria closes Side A with warmth and emotion, balancing heavyweight grooves with hands-in-the-air energy. Side B shifts towards pure dancefloor functionality. B_Loops 1 draws inspiration from classic Chicago drum programming, reshaping chopped organ loops into a wonky, uplifting club weapon, while Kings (TOOL) strips everything back to tension, texture and space built to be layered, manipulated and made unique in the hands of the DJ. Closing the record, Made Up embraces rawness over perfection. What began as one of the most difficult tracks to finish ultimately became a standout, driven by its rough edges and uncompromising club feel. The LP concludes with Theodor Luv’s Dub Take, taking the original deeper into dubbed-out territory and providing a fitting final chapter. From atmospheric soundscapes to dubbed house, Chicago-inspired rhythms and late-night club tools, KINGS captures a body of work that feels timeless rather than momentary music rescued from the archive and given the space it always deserved. After a very successful inaugural edition, Co-Op returns to @modular_cape_town on Friday 29 May with another choice selection of talent. Joburg export @yawayla.music opens up the Mod floor with his signature deep, pulsing textures, followed by resident @brunomorphet_music on the middle slot. @joss.mp3 closes out the floor armed with a stack of new and unheard tracks thanks to some prolific output goals over the month of May. On the Lido floor upstart producer/dj - @benprobert_ opens up the night ahead of the back to back matchup of favorites @___morgan.____ and @natasa_music - each bringing their signature brand of house to the headline slot. HBR010: Various Artists Compilation 3 What started as a compilation became something bigger. 2Sides2Citys was our way of bringing the project to life. Moving across Cape Town and Johannesburg, connecting two dancefloors through one body of work. No listening sessions, just the music in its environment.
