NWA! 🤎 I’ve always loved field watches, and this Benrus DTU-2A/P feels right at home on my wrist. A compact 34mm case, a clean, legible dial, and a brown leather bund strap that gives it so much character. Who else has a soft spot for field watches? #Benrus #BenrusDTU2AP #FieldWatch #NewWatchAlert

New York Watch Week is winding down — but if you're staying in New York a bit longer, or haven't had your fill of watches, there's plenty left to see. New in the checklist app: 82 NYC watch boutiques. Some of the brands from the shows are at these boutiques, and there are plenty of others you could check out. Pick a brand, see the shops that carry it, check hours, get directions. Worth calling ahead if you're after a specific watch. Also in the app: this week's audience favorites — the brands visitors rated "must see" and highlighted most. At the top: Chopard. Slightly surprising when they didn't have a splashy new release to show off – but after getting my hands once again on their L.U.C dress watches and Alpine Eagles at WatchTime yesterday, I get why they lead the pack. And with @mingwatches @fearswatches @traskawatch @arminstrom @ressence_watches right behind, the enthusiast community clearly has excellent taste! I’m friends with @ChronosandKatanas, who introduced me to the wonderful history of @Benrus, an American watch company with a colorful history. It was founded in 1921 by three Romanian brothers: Benjamin, Oscar, and Ralph Lazrus. The name comes from “Ben” and the ending of their last name, “Rus.” Their business model was to get Swiss movements and assemble them in cases in the US. Their branding and marketing were aggressively American. They have a deep catalog over their 100 years of existence, but are best known for the watches they supplied the US armed forces. The company went out of business because of the quartz crisis and mismanagement, but was relaunched in 2017 by a group of investors led by CEO Giovanni Feroce. Benrus focuses on its military heritage, and most of its current models are modern renditions. The Type 3 is different. While it was inspired by their milspec Type I and II watches, the Type 3X Zulu is an entirely new design, developed in consultation with U.S. Special Forces personnel through an iterative process. Basically, Benrus asked what a modern successor to these iconic watches should be. There are two versions: one in green composite carbon and titanium, and another in a black-and-metal colorway. I apologize, as I only took photos of the green version. The case is a hefty 42 x 12.5 mm, but given its construction, it is very light and wears really comfortably on the wrist. The dial is highly legible with double anti-reflective-coated sapphire, with solid longsword hands and simple triangle (12), bar (3 and 9), and circle hour indicators. There is a GMT function for tracking Zulu time, or UTC, which is GMT (time in Greenwich) as measured by atomic clocks. Because military operations can occur across wide geographies, schedules are sometimes set to UTC. It has a dive bezel, a screw-down crown, 200-meter water resistance, and anti-magnetic resistance to 250 gauss. It comes on a green Velcro and rubber strap that is rugged, waterproof, and comfortable. Well, I think one could say to Benrus, MISSION ACCOMPLISHED! You can get them today at the Windup Watch Fair by visiting Darius. #Watches #americanwatches #benrus #militarywatch
