I’ve been wanting to experiment with adornment for several years, and while creating work for my exhibition, the idea for a hair barrette emerged. This is the first of several wearable pieces I’ll be sharing as they’re completed.

Photo 2 is of my 5 year old, Paloma, who agreed to model it only if she could wear Papa’s tee as a dress…a rite of passage.

★ Introducing the Alma Barrette, now available for pre-order.

Excited to share that “Elegantly Wasted” has been selected to screen in competition at this year’s Tribeca Festival. Big thanks to Hermanos Gutiérrez, Leon Bridges, and Easy Eye Sound, for letting us bring this one to life, and to the terrific crew who made it happen. See you in New York.

Benson Ellis edits “A Love Letter To Texas” for Tecovas, an homage to the stories shaped by the Lone Star state.

Director Jeff Nichols honors his favorite cinematic classics shot in the state (“Paris, Texas,” “Tender Mercies,” “Hud”) in this short film starring Michael Shannon, Ryan Bingham, Hassie Harrison, and Sissy Spacek.

Stay tuned for the full-length film in April, and read more in @texasmonthly! Link in bio.

Some BTS from the Hermanos Gutiérrez and Leon Bridges shoot. I wanted to create something in the tone of their music...patient, spacious, and rooted in cinematic memory. Their music trusts the listener to lean in and I wanted to capture that. Alejandro, Estevan, and Leon were incredible collaborators, and I’m glad they shared that same trust with me. (Luther Ingram jams between set-ups didn’t hurt either.) 📷 @jackieleeyoung & @erin__corrigan
