AQUA OBSCURA Board Culture Exposure is delighted to welcome @benthouard, a lifelong lover of the ocean and waves, as part of the third edition of its international photography festival. Recognized worldwide for his extraordinary underwater work, he is a source of inspiration for many photographers from the surf culture and far beyond. This exhibition offers a compilation of his three most recent books: Surface, Turbulences, and Aqua Obscura, the exhibition’s namesake. Here, the photographer invites us on a dreamlike journey into a multifaceted world of blue and white, where light, movement, and matter seem to merge. Let yourself be swept away on a journey through the countless shades of blue, set to the rhythm of the ocean’s undulations and the perpetual motion of the wave. This wave that fascinates us, gives us fabulous sensations, and sometimes overwhelms us, the one that, beneath its apparent simplicity, holds a world in perpetual motion. Last year I shot with Apple and Red Bull in Teahupo’o, Tahiti, as a part of an immersive surf project for Apple Vision Pro The project is called World of Red Bull – Big Wave Surfing – and the wider collaboration already won an EMMY for innovation in sport Today, viewers all over the world can experience the beauty and intensity of the ocean like never before Stand tall in the barrel at Teahupo’o, Tahiti, sit in the channel amongst perfect blue water and reef, and celebrate on the boat with the world’s best surfers after a session to remember. Shot in 3D at 8K with a 180-degree field of view and Spatial Audio Project was filmed by Salt + Air Studios @benthouard @redbullsurfing @apple
