I know today’s game didn’t go the way we wanted it to but there are a few things I noticed today on offense. Our guys were trying to make something happen every at bat. Our guys are freaking swinging out of their shoes trying to hit a home run. I know Gavin Williams throws gas and the knuckle curve. So our guys were off balanced but at the same time. If you are trying to do too much. If you do this the advantage goes to the opposing pitcher. Our guys didn’t have great strike zone discipline today. I know we do a great job putting the ball in play and I am not saying stop doing that because that brings us success but what I am trying to say is. Stop trying to hit a home run every pitch. Don’t try to do too much at the plate and have great strike zone discipline. Also it is important not to try to do too much with RISP. That is why we haven’t been doing good this postseason with RISP. Is that everyone is trying to get that big hit. Keep your eyes on the ball and don’t let your eyes get too big. Just stay calm, cool, and collected at the plate. Try to slow things down. Even though guys are throwing 100+ MPH and off speed pitches. Pitchers in the postseason will pitch to cool areas of the strike zone to hitters. While doing that try to pinpoint their pitches and get a swing and miss out of the strike zone. Just be ready for anything in that specific pitcher’s arsenal and be ready for it at any location. That is why it is important to keep your eye on the ball the whole time. We can’t let the crowd get to us alright. Yes teams face elite pitching and defense in the postseason but we can’t try to force stuff every AB because that will add another advantage to the opposing pitchers. Don’t ever let the moment get too big. You can’t rely on pitchers making a mistake in the playoffs because that is slim to none and that is why I say don’t try to do too much and keep your eye on the ball with great strike zone discipline. Take what the pitcher and defense gives you. Of course you still want to capitalize on the mistakes pitchers make but don’t try to do too much then also. You will over swing and try to hit a home run every time. Just have a simple approach every at bat. 😉

The Rays were led by:

•Liam Hicks, who went 2 for 3 with 2 RBI’s.
•Freddy Peralta, who pitched 6.0 innings, giving up 4 hits, 0 earned runs, 2 base on balls, and struck out 6 batters.

The Rays tie the series 1-1, with game 3 on Thursday in Cleveland.

Rays fall to the Guardiand losing 7-3, an ugly ending to what looked like a promising start. Ras gave up 2 runs both on solo shots tough to see, Wells Booser was scoreless in his inning. Wells gave up 2 runs, Seymour hit 2 key outs. Sulser struggled giving up 3 runs, Kelly getting the final out. Caminero and DeLuca drove in the first 2 Rays runs, and with those 2 it was looking good. Mullins hit a home run off a lefty, and he’s definitely been a surprise HR pick there. #clevelandguardians #yandydiaz #juniorcaminero #tampabayrays #raysup
