Beppi and I have a book! 🎄🎁 Prefer to support artists this season? That’s us! Wanna skip the Black Friday big box crush? Pop in to your local bookstore (good excuse!) and ask them to order Pink Zombie Rose: Major Arcana Vol I, which puts us on their radar. This works equally well for libraries. 📚

"A surreal anarcho-experiment, Pink Zombie Rose: Major Arcana is a genre-defying urban journey through a dystopian landscape.

A dark void, a temporal romp. A rapid alchemical misfire.

Mythic tricksters & psychonaut mystics…Voyeur corn fields & paper thin walls…intrigue, spy craft & American made automobiles. A mysterious malady is traveling Midwestern roadways (and great lakes). From Chicago to the upper peninsula, patients are coming in with the same complaint—

They’re dead.

The infected are turning on, tuning in & dropping out.

It’s a long strange apocalypse.

Bad time to be blindsided by love.

Dr. Verne, is the world’s expert in walking corpse syndrome, so the neuroscientist is in the eye of the storm, Ground Zero—Toledo, Ohio—while his twin, a Detroit car designer, is just over the Michigan state line. Aton & Atom are two brothers without distinct borders in two cities, one of them an outgrowth of the other.

Romantic & rhizomatic, Pink Zombie Rose is surreal psychedelia & new existentialism.

Ode to the weirdo, philosophical belly flop, & call to action.” -Pink Zombie Rose

It's alive!~ Major Arcana Volume 1 is a work that speaks for itself. @pinkzombierose has published pieces with us before, and her work stands resplendent in this collection, accompanied by beautiful illustrations by @beppiisbert. A few copies available in our online store, link in bio!

🦊 “When the trickster starts a pokin’”—- that mischief was afoot the day/night I entered the world and became Dia En Noche so this series is my gift which I have left on a roadside altar for Hermes and his traveling outsiders. PZR’s revolutionary punk spirit is the essence of the mythic trickster and our Trickster Card is a wild card! Blackstar tricked me into telling stories about myself / my family. 🍰 All I want for my birthday - reviews on goodreads and Amazon, so if you’ve been meaning to do it, today is the day.

Art by @beppiisbert! One of my favorites.

Happy Pride Month to Andy, our Temperance Card and the undead dentist. In the comics you may notice Andy looks different in every panel and that’s because she is realizing that she is finally ready for transformation. 🏳️‍⚧️Thanks @scarlet_maenadum for looking after Andy and making sure she’s done right. And giving a bit of herself to Andy! 🦷🦷🦷🦷

Our Tower Card 🔥 Art by Beppi! Two Prong Crown was written for @funemploymentpress… maybe the editor @ben_sheridan_writing can remind me of the theme for that anthology???

Happy Mothers Day to my wonderful mom! I wouldn’t be half the person I am without her! I also wouldn’t have the love for music and art if it wasn’t for her which I thank her for very much! I love you @beppiisbert and I hope you have a wonderful day today! 🖼️ ❤️

The end of “She’s Got Jaws.” Thanks for coming to the marathon. Here’s a recap, Angie spent the day on Lake Erie, thinking about that time she nearly creamed a cherry vintage Cadillac - black! - and left her body when the driver reached from his passing window to touch her arm.

All day she’s been carrying on about this magical fairy raiment of a button up that she thrifted in White Hand, Ohio.

Now, at the Sundance Drive In, she is drawn to a stranger - Shane! - but later, in line at concessions, she realizes the beautiful man has a beautiful man.

And he’s the shark!

——

This is before she meets Aton Verne (maybe) so this is her first encounter with the Verne twins (maybe.) Fun fact, behind the scenes, this was Beppi’s first PZR story but we’d already established our MYOB boundary - each artist in their own lane. Yet I wrestled with this depiction of Angie. “She looks so masculine,” I’d say. “She looks different than she did in the other panels.” Finally, it hit me. She looks like a Verne! Because that is what the Verne Brothers do, as an insular closed circuit, they remake everyone into a twin in a constant cycle of transference.

To Beppi, I said “I didn’t realize what you did there.”

Beppi said, “Me either!”

My Grandma Mama Lou was shrouded in enigma. She was one who kept to herself but also had a big life with lots of people who loved her in it. I didn’t know much before but I learned that she was a bad ass! She apparently got into a horrible horseback riding accident, crawled all the way back to her sisters house, and managed to call the doctor. This was right after breaking a bunch of bones in her body. She was an advocate for women’s rights and a believer that women are just as if not more capable than men. She loved gardening, reading books, quilting, and learning among many other amazing things. I didn’t see my grandma in the final years of her life but I am grateful I got to see my family and reminisce over the good the bad and the ugly but mostly the good! Show love when you can, see people where they are at, and keep learning!
