Celebrating 70 years of Dad with this epic crew!!!!🥰

I can't express how amazing the last 5 days have been spending time with each and every one of you that came to celebrate Dad's 70th Birthday with us.

On Dad's Birthday last year when I found out Dad was booking a cruise for his 70th Birthday, I took it upon myself to send a message out to his nearest and dearest to see who would like to join us to celebrate his birthday as a BIG SURPRISE.

A year later..........

And what a surprise it was for Dad to arrive at the terminal seeing everyone there!

64 of us in total!!!!! Carnival Adventure didn't know what hit them🤣

Let's start planning the next one😉 🛳

2025/26 @adellightning Awards Night ⚡️

A celebration of the season — and for me personally, the incredible women I had the privilege to work with and learn from (not all pictured).

“Women supporting women” isn’t just a phrase — I’ve felt it. Thank you for the encouragement, belief, and kindness as I lean into my passion, grow my confidence, and keep re finding my place in this game 🏀❤️🏀

An exciting new chapter for @adellightning welcoming local Tess Madgen and Bernadette Dodd to form part of the core that will direct the Lighting in the upcoming @wnbl season.

There’s significant experience & local insights being brought to the team with their inclusion.

Learn more about Tess and Bernie in our episodes 158 where we got to speak to Bernadette Dodd and Victoria Denholm about the passion and possibilities the WNBL brings and in Episode 118 where we hear from Tess Madgen and Lauren Jackson on @shehoops.aus

// FLOURISH // was the theme of #DEX2024 and that they did! Thank you Annie @danceexcellence and all of the amazing teachers and staff involved for organising the most incredible festival for our dancers to learn, connect & #flourish, and to @rachshiels @theatredeladanse for the opportunity for Grace to be involved - from Easter Sunday through to our Gala Awards night it has been the best week! Being able to share this special experience with master teachers, studio directors, dancers and parents from all over the world is truly, in two words, a gift.

For our next Legacy Announcement, we introduce Bernie Dodd, the heart of the @melbourneboomers.

Bernie was on the Board of Directors that saved the club in 2016, and over the years has taken on a variety of key roles. From Head of Finance and Business Administration, to Executive Director, Bernie has touched and improved upon every aspect of the Boomers as a franchise. A special mention for her contribution to the Mamma Ball, a women’s only, all-abilities basketball program.

Recently honoured with the Linda Perry award, Bernie embodies the spirit of this great club and we welcome her to the MVP Family! 🏀🪴

In our latest #DreamChasers installment two female powerhouses behind some of the biggest clubs in @thewnbl , @melbourneboomers Exec Bernie Dodd and @sydneyflames President Victoria Denholm jump on, giving us an insight into their roles and perspectives.

It’s great hearing from two impressive leaders working hard behind the scenes. In their roles they elevate women’s basketball and create pathways for females from of all walks of life to participate.

Their priority is to support their teams and tribes but what becomes clear and compelling is that their collective passion for the sport opens doors to so many possibilities to grow #womenshoops !

I attended the premiere of “Sidelined”, a 4 part docuseries, featuring @thewnbl champions, the @melbourneboomers, during the 2021-22 @thewnbl
season. It’s a high quality production which explores the team’s fight beyond the basketball court to overcome gender inequality, lower pay, racial discrimination, and the constant pressure to justify their existence as female professional athletes.
It’s definitely worth a watch and premieres on
@sbsviceland on 18th September.
