“How’s cycling in Belitung?” 🚴‍♀️🌴

A fellow passenger spotted my bike box at the airport and asked me this. So here’s my take on cycling in Belitung! 🇮🇩🩵

🚦 Roads & Traffic
No traffic lights, very few cars, and drivers are generally friendly towards cyclists. The roads are in pretty good condition with few potholes, and the rolling hills make it fun! Haven’t tackled any climbs this trip, but that’s definitely on the list for my next visit. ⛰️🚴‍♀️

🌡️ Weather
Think cycling in Belitung would be hot and challenging? Surprisingly, the mornings are really cooling! The sky is already bright by 5am, so we can start early and finish by 8am before the heat kicks in. Perfect for an early morning spin and catch the sunrise! 🌅 ☀️

☕️ Cafe Hopping
Belitung is known as the “City of 1001 Coffee Shops” (Kedai Kopi), where drinking coffee is deeply rooted in local culture. So naturally, cafe hopping is part of the cycling itinerary. Ride, refuel, repeat! ☕️

🍜 And the FOOD… 🤤
Mie Belitung or Bakmie Achoi for breakfast? Nasi Tim is pretty good too! Don’t even get me started on the food… 😂 We even had an emergency roadside SOS!

SOS = Stop, Order Sausage! 🚨🌭🤣

Honestly, Belitung is such an underrated cycling destination — beautiful roads, friendly locals, a relaxed island vibe, great coffee and delicious food.
