Mortgage is Bank was released 21 years ago today on Fearless Records.

Casey Chaos produced MiB in Simi Valley at a shithole called Chickencoop Studios with engineer Matt Chidgey. I don’t even think that was the actual name of the studio; that is what we called it because of how awful it was. Frank was in the band during this period and was late daily. The film, Cat in the Hat, with Mike Myers, was being shot down the road while we were tracking the EP, and we had to drive past the Dr. Seuss village to get to the studio.

The title, Mortgage is Bank, came from a light-hearted argument between Bub and Christopher regarding what our friend did for work.

Christopher, “He works in mortgage, asshole!”

Bub replied, “Mortgage is bank!”

Casey exclaimed, “That’s the name of the album!”

Christopher took stolen Klonopin from Casey’s roommate and heavily boozed it up during that session, and was forcibly removed from the studio after flooding the bathroom and a bit of the tracking area. #thekinison #mortgageisbank
